If I applied 90 days retirement visa in the UK, can I open bank account in Thailand from the UK?

If yes how to do it?

If not can I do it straight away when I arrive to Thailand?

If you put 800K baht in a savings account in Thailand for a retirement visa, will it pay any interest? If so, about how much recently?

Question: When opening a bank account in Thailand, what is easiest method to deposit funds initially....Is it a US bank to Thai bank transfer ? or bring cash ? or... ..? What is the simplest and fastest method that people have used ? Thanks !

I submitted all my documents to TTB Bank on Monday to open a bank account, and today they called me, saying they can't proceed due to a new policy. They now require a Payroll Account in Thailand, which is impossible for DTV holders since we can't work here.

Has anyone successfully opened a bank account with TTB recently?

Was able to open bank account in TTB Big C supercenter 1 Hangdong . On the spot processing if you have all the docs- DTV Remote work category.

Docs asked:

- passport & visa

- driving licence

- landlord blue book and ID with signature

- rental contract

- employment contract / must be stated clearly that you can work in Thailand

- Tax Number
