HI. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I tried 90-day check-in online for the first time, and immediately got an e-mail saying: “We have received your information successfully” along with completed form for alien to report staying beyond 90 days. (O retirement.) So my question is: Is this process is now instant? (In the past I’ve seen people in this group saying they are waiting for approval.) Thanks!
I know a lot of people doing applying through HCMC for soft power visa have had some trouble, so I'll post my update.
After I submitted my initial application with all of my documents, I got a request for further documentation 2 days later. They were asking for proof of income.
I then submitted a letter explaining that my application was for soft power activities (muay thai training), and that I was unemployed. I confirmed that I will not be working in Thailand. I also included 6 months from statements from my brokerage account and my Neo bank account, to explain that this is where the recent lump sum of money into my bank account came from, and also this is where I would gather funds from to pay for any other large unexpected expenses.
I then got approval for my visa 2 days later, and now I have the 5 year DTV. The only thing is that they made a remark on the acceptance saying employment prohibited ; I'm not sure if it's normal or important, but I don't think it will matter anyways since I don't plan to be employed in Thailand
Evidently Chaengwattana does NOT typically need a TM-27 (despite the comments below). The situation that makes this different is that I have not filed a 90 day report at my new home in Bangkok (because I've left the country multiple times and not stayed long enough for a 90 day report) so my last 90 day report from last year still reflects my old address. That's the cause of the situation and need to return next week.

Saw a related topic and thought I'd share a cautionary tale from today's visit to Chaengwattana. Error on my part, hopefully will get it worked out. Hadn't heard of this happening before, but I'm sure it has. Immigration officer said I was the second person today with a similar experience. Had been living in Hua Hin for a couple years then started to split my time with a place I rented in Bangkok.
Did the last two extensions of stay in Hua Hin (over 50, non-O). Last year, I left my place in Hua Hin and have been living exclusively in Bangkok. Did the Bangkok TM 30 once I moved for good, but did not file a change of address TM-27 (cue foreboding music).
Today I tried to get a new extension. Had every bit of paperwork I thought was necessary, but got caught out on not having done the address change and asked why I wasn't going to the Hua Hin office for my extension. Explained I hadn't been living there for almost a year and showed them my Bangkok rental contract and TM 30.
They asked for my last rental contract and TM 30 for my place in Hua Hin (which miraculously I had with me).
All ended up with them asking me to write a letter to the supervisor explaining my move, apologizing and asking for their consideration. Have to go back next week (with freshly updated bank letter, transaction record and bank book since it'll be beyond the 7 day period of the previous letter) to see if the extension was approved by the supervisor.
Sooo... Chaengwattana definitely appears to need the TM-27 filed if you move provinces.
As somebody who has their first Non O — 1 year Extension of Stay date coming up at Bangkok Immigration, I have 2 questions; 1). Am I supposed-to in advance glue one of the 2 recent identical headshots required, to the application form? AND 2. If II have already a preplanned trip back to America this summer, and to avoid dealing with it at the airport in June, is it possible to receive a valid EXIT STAMP in my passport at the end of the upcoming Extension of Stay appointment?
I’ve been to Thailand many times, I have a condo in my name and have a thai bank account. I’m still a year or two from retiring to Thailand full time. My last two entries were on a 30 day tourist Evisa for 30 days with 30 day extension and 5 months ago I entered on a 60 day tourist tourist Evisa with a 30-day extension. I heard there is a crackdown on tourist using multiple extensions and that I may be denied entry. About 3 weeks ago I was approved for another 60 day tourist visa and I wish to stay for 90 days. Should I just apply for a non immigrant o visa or take my chances with the extension either way is fine for me?
looking for non-B visa references: if you've successfully registered a company and got a working permit with a non-B visa or know someone who has, I'd love a contact reference. TIA.
Hi all, so I was planning to get my Non O visa in the UK and fly out next month to Bangkok, the intention was to get the 1 year extension visa on this trip.... given all these issues getting a bank account, is it now going to be impossible ? I didn't intend on using an agent and I was going to try and sort it myself in one of the bank branches...I would be grateful for any advise, as I'm currently stuck in limbo..
DTV approved just now! Canberra, Australia Consulate.
Thank you to a few anonymous posters for their advice, I was considering just using an agent and doing the soft power route even though I am self employed - until reading their posts and I am very glad I did it myself! Super super easy. Had everything ready before I started (took me maybe an hour to prepare) and uploaded and submitted the application within 30 mins.
Type - Business Owner/director
Submitted: 12th Feb
Additional documents requested: 14th Feb they asked for proof of financials of the 500k thb, strangely I had already uploaded 2 different screenshots including a bank statement, but it seems they preferred a proof of balance letter from my bank which only showed the amount on that date, in AUD. I also showed well over the 500k minimum on all 3 screenshots.
Approved: 19th Feb at 5pm
Proof of location: Australian drivers license
Paperwork: Cover letter + employment contract from me to myself, signed only by me, proof of balance letter from bank, THB to AUD conversion rate screenshot, ASIC business extract
Flight number: Flight number into bkk in 2 weeks, no exit flight
I have a pending consideration stamp in my passport. We plan to leave Thailand for an overseas trip. Will my visa application be cancelled? Google search says it will. Anyone have any experience with this?
