Dont know if anyone elsehas encountered this problem. I recently tried to send my wife a small amount of money using WISE. After three days I got an email saying my account had been closed due to fraudulant activity, which is absolute nonnsense. I have spent several hours on the phone submitted a claim with them and they still have my money. I cannot seem to talk with anyone with any authority. Anybody else have this experience and any idea on how to get my money back. Disgusted by this.

Potential problem discovered today. Some immigration offices may ask you for proof your bank deposit came from abroad. Many people use online banks like Wise. But Wise send from their Wise London bank to a partner bank in Thailand, and then on to your bank. So your deposit's code in your Thai bank is not from abroad. Immigration can therefore make this an obstacle - that needs overcoming - to get your visa. Note: not all offices or officers ask for this apparently.

UPDATE: According to others, it seems this problem has been solved by Wise giving an option to send "funds for longstay". If, like me however, you sent the funds before this option was available, the problem remains. You will most likely have to resend the funds from abroad. My local office will not accept the Wise (funds sent) statement as proof.

Without a Thai bank account, I'm curious how are people paying rent and utilities?

I've done a one-month rental before paying up front in cash and they deducted utilities when giving the deposit back.

For a year lease, what do you do to send money to the landlord as well as the utilities? I plan on getting a year lease in Chiang Mai for several years and leaving during the burning season. I suppose I could pay up front for 2 months before leaving the country, but what about utilities?

Advice sought please !! Will re locate Thailand in Feb ! Am looking at transferring $$ from Australian bank to "Wise" to Thai bank !! As bank & wise apparently always use/send a " verification code" for transfer authentication I cannot get this as sent as SMS!! I would really appreciate a way around this without having to resort to a " VPN!?". Cheers

Asked a question a while back about the bank statement to prove monthly income. Someone said you had to choose "for long term visa" as the transfer reason. There was some other input.

These are the options. None talk about visa. Thoughts?

EDIT: this is a wire from an E-Trade account.

When transferring money into Thailand, when you go to show the transfers for income verification... So things like WISE register differently than wires?

Hi Guys

I know that opening up a bank account on the DTV can be difficult, so I am thinking of other options. I basically just want the convenience of being able to use my phone to pay and not having to carry cash around everywhere. Would revolut or wise accounts work for this? Is there anyone that uses their revolut or wise accounts for this and what are the fees?I am trying to decide which account to get. Thanks
