Was able to open bank account in TTB Big C supercenter 1 Hangdong . On the spot processing if you have all the docs- DTV Remote work category.

Docs asked:

- passport & visa

- driving licence

- landlord blue book and ID with signature

- rental contract

- employment contract / must be stated clearly that you can work in Thailand

- Tax Number

Same requirements asked at TTB Central Festival.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post shares the experience of successfully opening a bank account at TTB in Hangdong, with on-the-spot processing provided all necessary documents are presented. Required documents include a passport and visa, driver's license, landlord's blue book and ID, rental contract, employment contract (indicating the ability to work in Thailand), and a tax number. The comments discuss how to obtain a tax number, implications for digital nomads regarding taxation in Thailand, and some debate over the tax obligations for long-term residents.

@Rob ********
well as far as I know- any long term visa holders can get tax number at the DR. I chose to pay taxes here in Thailand. I showed my contract that clearly states that I work remotely and can work in Thailand.
Rob *********
Anonymous participant I got a tax number ID a few years ago, when I had a student visa, the visa you have is not important,but living here for more than 6 months is.

@Rob ********
you’re in for a nasty surprise when you find out what Thailand is cooking for digital nomads regarding tax haha

From what the Department Revenue lady said, when filing taxes next year, they’ll see your thai bank account and how much money you received in this account, I guess that’s the amount they’ll be taxing. So looking at the tax amount bracket, just manage how much money you’d like to be taxed.

@Marb *******
it’s your option to be a good long term resident or not. It’s up to you.
Marb ********
What’s that got to Do with my comment? I was just saying to the guy who was unaware he had to pay tax, that he’s in for a shock.
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
fear mongering have you got any credible sources to back this up or is it just falang hearsay and gossip in an attempt to scare people
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
plenty of thai legal channels talking about it on the daily if you even care to do your own research 🤷‍♂️
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
the same Thai legal channels that said herb would be illegal in January? Maybe read some credible sources just because they’re in Thai believe it or not doesn’t make it true, thought this was just common sense but hey!
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
so if tax lawyers aren’t a credible source define what is ? Very interested
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
a credible source would be like a well known media outlet EG Bangkok post, not a Thai tax lawyer trying to sell his tax services lol

And here as well:

I take this very seriously. It means that 2025 might be the last year to enjoy the tax benefits of 0% tax offshore Thiland

@Oren ******
thanks for further proving my point ; In the sources you provided which say it’s a proposed taxation btw it states “Thailand’s Revenue Code would mandate that individuals who live in Thailand for 180 days or more would be required to pay tax on their overseas income,” you can’t stay longer than 180 days on dtv without leaving or renewal. So I’m really confused as to what your taking seriously if your not even comprehending the time frame of the sources you provided
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
“without leaving or renewal” lol you don’t even know the correct terms yourself. You do not “renew” the DTV, after 6 months, you can EXTEND it 😂 or leave the country
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
you’re being pedantic in an attempt to hide the fact you bought into some rumors and now attempting to spread said rumors on Facebook.You replied to my grammar but had nothing to say about the completely incorrect point you sadly attempted to prove. Maybe if you spent less time correcting English people about their english grammar you’d be less inclined to pick up virtual Pom Poms and be a Facebook gossip cheerleader !
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
it’s not grammar, it’s a completely different thing, thinking it’s something you have to renew after 6 months is wrong, you don’t understand what the DTV is. Anyone who’s applied for the DTV is not going to stay only 180 days then leave. The whole reason people apply for a multi entry visa is so they can stay much longer, people border bounce for one day then come back. But anyway, you’ve been given sources and still crying so think whatever u want, not gonna argue with someone who thinks you have to renew the DTV after 6 months and that people are only gonna stay 6 months 😂 🤷‍♂️
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
for the record ; renew is a synonym for extend, google is free and so is complete ignorance apparently.
Vanda **********
Again I’m not getting into an English grammar debate with someone for which I doubt English is their first language, secondly you just said anyone who applied for the dtv is not going to stay 180 days then leave ? But the visa literally says you have to regardless of your return so I think it’s you that’s having a hard time understanding basic rules.
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
?! You think people apply for a DTV that’s valid for FIVE YEARS to only stay 6 months? Use some common sense now lmao..
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
you’re saying use common sense but all you have to do is read. It says staying LONGER than 180 days can you physically do that on a DTV without any action ? No I can’t teach you comprehension you should have learnt in high school.
Marb ********
@Vanda *********
ah yes, the media!!! The media is always correct 😂
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
ah yes Thai lawyers are always correct I forgot 🤣
Vanda **********
@Marb *******
you mean tax lawyers that would benefit from gullible falang like yourself believing they need to get their tax in order ?
Anonymous ******************
@Rob ********
You're becoming tax resident when spending over 180 days per calendar year in Thailand.
Rob *********
Anonymous participant 212 Yeah I know, I lived here for 8 years before the digital nomad word was invented, and I also pay my taxes in Thailand and have a tax number ID, nothing new to me.

@Rob ********
digital nomad word was invented long time ago before you even know it 8 years ago so.
Rob *********
Anonymous participant Not true, I never heard 7 years ago when I came to Thailand about this word, not in Spanish nor in English. Maybe the word was "invented" 3 decades ago, but it became popular after COVID.
Biff *******
So, how did you get the tax number?
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Biff ******
Tax number requirements:

Passport

Rental contract

Employment contract

Pay duty stamps (they will tell you how much, based on your rent)
Oren *******
Anonymous participant Did they check to see you were there above 180 days in 2024?

Or the Tax ID applies for both 2024 and 2025 onward?
Anonymous *************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Oren ******
they counted how long I’ve been here based on my passport stamp but she did say I’ll file tax for 2025. Not 2024 since I don’t have and can’t show any thai bank statement for 2024 even I have been living here more than 180 days last year.

yes I am working for a US company- my contract is in English (I don’t pay taxes in the US)

And also note, in my contract it specifically say the word work in Thailand, and you’re good.
Biff *******
Anonymous participant You’re good if the people at the tax office can read your contract. They’re not required to be able to read and understand English at the level that contracts are written in.

she didn’t actually read it, I just pointed out the word “I can work in Thailand.” No more questions asked. That’s counter
