Hello. I am currently in Thailand 60 day tourist visa with a 30 day extension. Would possibly like to open a bank account. Possibly with Kasikornbank. Have been told by members of staff that I need work permit to open one. Am I able to obtain a Work Permit with regards to my current status. My passport is stamped until 31st March 2025. I got my visa last month, and arrived in Bangkok 17th October.

I have tried asking at a few banks about opening an account and all have told me I need a work permit. I think this is not entirely true, as I know a few people on a retirement visa who have opened accounts.

Any tips on which banks or branches will open an account, and what is needed.

I just arrived with a non-o 90 day visa. I will ultimately be settling in Singburi but I’m in Bangkok for a month as a home base.

Q: Should I open my bank account in Bangkok or Singburi. Would one place be easier? Why should I open the account where I live vs. the big city?

What I mean is say I arrive from the US with a international driving permit on an a 30 day exempt and grab the extension at the airport for a total 60 days, what needs to happen first besides a LEO and a 7-11 Toastie?

There must be some things dependent on others and a flow when it comes to establishing a bank account, long term rental, drivers license, Visa (ED or retirement), setting up utilities and long term phone and internet, etc

I know i need a bank account to get the visa, but do i need a rental agreement to get the bank account?

Do I pay cash to get the rental until I get the bank account set up?
