I'm a digital nomad that has been traveling on tourist visas and surviving on less than THB 500k for the last few months. At the end of this month, I will receive a "top-up" that puts me over the 500k requirement for the DTV.

Am I not eligible for DTV until I have 3+ months of bank statements showing that amount in my account?

I read some posts in this group where people mention writing a cover letter of sorts to explain your situation. Perhaps that could improve my chances.

Maybe sponsorship is the better approach. I will be applying at the embassy in Hanoi.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I got my DTV in Hanoi this month.

Lessons

1) if you have a suffix, add it after your last name

2) absolutely NO redacted information on your bank statements, they won’t accept ANY documents with redacted/blacked-out information

3) check your application status regularly because you might have to resubmit documents

I'm planning to apply as a remote worker and have seen posts about applicants being asked to provide payslips and proof of salary deposits in their bank statements. I use two different accounts—a checking and a savings account. My salary is automatically deposited into my checking account, but I keep most of my funds in my savings, which is what I intend to use as proof of 500K. I’d rather not transfer the 500K to my checking account because I’d have to wait a full month for my bank statement to reflect the amount. Any advice on how to navigate this?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone can provide an advice or smth..

Unfortunately, I received a rejection email for my DTV visa yesterday from the Thai Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. The reason stated was that I don’t meet the financial requirement of 850K EGP (~500K THB).

However, I had attached:

• A transaction history from my Remotepass account (I work remotely as a consultant through Remotepass).

• My actual work contract (active since August last year)

• An additional bank statement.

Both statements combined exceed 500K THB and are in USD, yet my application was still rejected.

I applied on February 17th and got a response just one day later. I’ve tried reaching out for clarification and to see if anything can be done, no response back.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any idea why this might have happened or what I can do next?

Would really appreciate it!

I’ve seen the problems some are having with immigration trying to return. In the last 12 months I’ve had 1 x 60 day visa + 30, 1 x 30 + 30 and 2 x 60 + 30’s in my passport.

Next time I enter I will be applying for the Non-O based on retirement but don’t want to risk entering on a 60 day again, just in case. So I looked up the requirements to apply for the 90 day Non-O.

Am I missing something because I’ve seen what is needed to apply for the same visa in Thailand and the online application didn’t ask for that much. It asked for normal stuff like passport details, proof of UK address, flight details, Thailand address, current photo and proof of funds, showing I had the equivalent of 800k baht in my UK bank. That’s it!

So when I arrive and apply for the extension, do I 100% not have to show 800k in my Thai account? If not, what happens the next year when it’s time to renew? I’m guessing I’ll need the 800k 2 months before application or 12 x 65k pm transfers right?

I'm looking to apply to an embassy that will accept the latest or 1 month bank statements as that is what I can only prove right now.

So far I've read that Hanoi (Vietnam), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Taipei (Taiwan) are ones that have allowed this and I'm hoping anyone with experience of this, can please share. 🙏

Also, does anyone know cheap soft power courses to apply to in Bangkok? If you do apply with for the soft power DTV, the embassy will not ask for any employment verification correct?

Thanks!!

Please could someone clarify exactly what this means, they have asked me for more info:

A deposit account shows the transactions last 6 months and the account balance or a combination of a deposit/saving account totaling not less than 500,000baht. Stock/Crypto/Bitcoin/Investment/Business/PayPal account and sponsor are not accepted

I previously sent them a statement from a brokerage trading account showing over 500k thb of assets. Do I have to sell my investments and transfer the cash to a checking account, and then show the latest statement from that? Is 1 month ok or do they need 6 months? Alternatively can I leave the cash in my brokerage account and just submit that? Thanks in advance.

HCMC consulate~

Applied for soft power through Muay Thai and as unemployed, They are now requesting additional documents for proof of monthly income. The 6 months of bank statements I had already supply show proof of capital to support any one well beyond 5 years. Any one else come across this and have advise?

Sharing my DTV approval for HCMC soft power cooking.

Fri Jan 31.

Applied with passport pic, copy of passport biometric page, cooking documents provided by Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy, entry stamp into HCMC, VN hotel booking and 3 months of bank statement over 500k.

Feb 5.

Further documentations requested. They wanted 6 months of bank statements, employment certificate and income proof.

On the application I wrote that I was unemployed, as I quit my job recently. I gave them my tax return, a couple of pay slips and an end of service letter that my HR provided me when I left. I wrote a short letter explaining I currently do not have a job as I moved to Thailand recently and taking a career break (I have been living here for a month on a tourist exempt visa).

Feb 10.

Further documentations requested. They wanted more information on the school.

I emailed the school who helped me with some pictures. I took screenshots of their website and resubmitted all documentations that I had already given them (receipt, cooking timetable, acceptance letter, business registration, director ID).

Feb 17.

Approved.

Flew back to Thailand today with a print out of my dtv into Bangkok. No issues.

I did extensive research in this group before my application so I was quite surprised being asked for extra documents twice. I think the HCMC embassy is starting to get more critical on soft power and the process took 2 weeks for me because I had to supply more documents.

The Bangkok Cooking Academy was very helpful with my application, I recommend them.

When submitting with a sponsor, in addition to a sponsorship letter and bank statements is anything else required? Should I include a copy of their passport or ID?
