HCMC consulate~

Applied for soft power through Muay Thai and as unemployed, They are now requesting additional documents for proof of monthly income. The 6 months of bank statements I had already supply show proof of capital to support any one well beyond 5 years. Any one else come across this and have advise?

Thought I'd share my DTV process for those who is going medical route in HCMC Vietnam.

-Applied for HCMC Consulate

-Took a day before requesting for documents

-I moved money to personal bank account to be sure (well over the 500k baht since it's joint )

-for documentation of what medical care plan

-I'm an athlete with injuries so I showed diagnosis, MRI's, multiple doctors visits, PT , receipts, and treatment plan over the next few months. (all done at thai hospitals and had wet stamps) Also had a cover letter explaining what each document was.

-they replied and said my bank statement was not correct (which was the only option I had from my bank). so I took a screenshot of the account activities and sent that with the previous bank statements that they said was not a bank statement.

-They followed up and asked for a selfie with the date and my name on the receipt at the location I'm in.

-Approved 3 days later.

I've also found when it asked for help here there were a couple trolls who weren't very knowledgeable and specifically an old guy who was a "top contributor" that sounded adamant I won't get it.

so just be prepared in the requirements and read other stories of what others have submitted.

Has anyone applied at the HCMC consulate in person? I know everything has moved online, but I keep hearing about problems with the online applications overwriting, autocorrecting, and generally not working, that I'm wondering if I can just fill it out and drop it off there, no mistakes. Any thoughts or insights?

DTV approved via HCMC consulate. No questions asked.

Workcation category: provided 1. Fintech bank statement, 2. contractor agreement, 3. letter from client confirming the remote work agreement, 4. client company's business registration.

Both me and my gf(different nationalities) got the visa with those 4 docs each, and no questions or extra bureaucracy like other embassies. We came to HCMC for a visa run + eat some banh mi.

I'm not sharing the visa photo - it looks exactly like the Vientiane sticker with HCMC instead. Visa valid til 2029 beyond passport validity. Questions are welcome but if I don't answer you, that means it's already answered in other posts. Just search in-group with keywords.

Digital nomads, rejoice. Pick the easier embassy if your closest one is being difficult.

Anyone had any luck (post-covid) with Hanoi or HCMC Thai consulates for getting "O" visa for reason of spousal visitation? I understand that Savannakhet is functioning, and have (pre-covid) done HCMC. There are now nonstop flights from CNX to HAN and SGN. This is a lot easier to traverse than CNX-UBP and a 2 hour bus ride to Mukdahan, then 1 hour to get over the border. Cost should be the same, time taken should be much less, if HCMC or Hanoi Thai consulates are functioning.

Hi All, thinking about applying for a multiple-entry Non-Imm 'O' visa based on having a Thai child at a neighbouring Thai consulate? Are Savannakhet and HCMC still doing these? What are their requirements? Can I get a work permit whilst on this kind of visa?

Thanks in advance. :)

Report of successful non-immigrant O multiple-entry visa (marriage) in HCMC.

I just returned from HCMC with my brand new visa and it could not have been easier. I submitted a copy of my marriage certificate (with the rose border) signed by both of us, along with a copy of my wife's ID card and tabien baan, both signed by her. She also wrote a simple handwritten letter saying we were legally married and asking could they please give me the visa. She also signed this paper. I also filled out the form they have in the office, with 2 photos (blue background was OK), and 200 USD in cash. The woman behind the counter spent about 30 seconds looking over the docs, then gave me a receipt to use when retrieving my passport the next day. I was concerned that the handwritten letter from my wife should be a certain format, but it was no problem. I spent less than a minute submitting my paperwork, then less than another minute picking up my passport the next day.

We sat in an outdoor restaurant across the street waiting for the consulate to open, and I counted about 25-30 people waiting in line. When I eventually went inside to get my visa, two English-speaking guys were trying to understand why there were only given 30 days instead of 60 (for their tourist visas), but I didn't stick around long enough to hear the answer. Outside, an Englishman asked about my results, then showed me the warning stamp on his tourist visa saying (basically) "this person frequently comes into Thailand on tourist visas". I suspect he will not be able to get another visa at that consulate, and I was left with the distinct impression that this consulate is also starting to crack down.

Also, when going through Passport Control at Suvarnabhumi, I was able to go with my wife through the (much shorter) Thai Passport lanes, saving us lots of time.

Finally, VietJetAir is also starting to crack down on their 7kg per person baggage limit (at least when leaving HCMC), so we were charged and forced to check a bag (note that we did not have this trouble going into or out of Dalat, on the same airline). I highly recommend that you look closely at your baggage weight if you travel this airline through this airport, as they delayed the flight about 30 minutes while they tested everyone's bag and forced lots of people to pay extra.

Hope this helps someone.

What is the fee for a multiple-entry, non-immigrant visa based on marriage in HCMC? What currencies do they accept at that consulate?
