. Stuart is right. The IO at Khon Kaen has nothing to do with re entry. Passport control officers do. I've had 3 reentry permits on non o yearly extension and all had expiry dates matching the expiry of my yearly extension. One was 9 months. Officials here sometimes prefer to make shit up on the spot than look foolish by admitting they don't know . I've had 3 different answers from 3 different IOs same day about extensions. Re entry permits would have 45 day expiry dates if that clown was correct.
baht is more than the agent would earn in a month. You provide the documents to them anyway , all they do is fill out application form and deliver paperwork to immigration. Which they do in bulk, not one at a time. If you are prepared to pay that much for someone to do maybe 2 hours work tops, then the other option is to take a day off work and do it yourself for 1900 baht per child. And are you happy handing over your passport and your children's passports to total strangers for as long as it takes? They normally make you wait until they have a pile of them before going to imm themselves. Immigration always return your passport immediately if you apply in person.
. Part time/casual work for foreigners doesn't really exist here. Unless you actually own the business.
The two main options are 50 hour weeks for 30k baht a month. , you'll hate it eventually.
Or land a job at a University or International school and you can earn a very good salary . Many are earning 200k + baht a month which is big money for a Thai here. Will need Degrees in field though.
. From the small info you've given , there's only really one visa option for you it seems. A work visa, which needs to be arranged by whoever offers you a job first, then work permit off that. Thailand does prefer younger foreign teachers though for some reason . I know many who struggled to get new contracts or new jobs after 50. I know of 6, one a fame member, who all worked at international schools here, as soon as they turned 50 the schools lost interest in renewing contracts.
. Take no notice of him. I've lived here 7 years. More Thais speak English as second language than any other. Always been a high demand for English teachers here especially qualified ones. If you go down that road, make sure you get appropriate visa and a work permit.
. Google Malaysias version. Will probably mimic it. Takes 5 minutes online done within 24 hrs of arrival. Can do it airside in front of passport control.
. If you plan to use changwattana imm office in bkk for your extension, you will always get back your passport with under consideration stamp. I've done it there 7 times. Also the chance of getting a home visit in bkk is almost zero due to them processing about 100 a day. I've never had one in 7 years here. Even if they do, you don't really need to be there as they will talk to your wife/ neighbors to confirm legimacy of marriage. They also need to notify you in advance.
. Yes .I know now but .. I've done 7 extensions and never updated it. And imm have never said anything they ignored that but made a fuss about having original kor Ror 3.. I give up..
When we married, amphur gave both of us one ofeach . Also one of each in English. Imm wouldn't accept the English versions ..
