When pulling trigger on 800,000 tbt equivalent from your US Bank to Thai Bank account — does the US BANK do the conversion to Thai Baht or is that done once it lands in Thai Bank? Or do both banks equally share in the cost of conversion ?
Why is western Union cheaper than wise all of a sudden ? Transfer 20000. Bht wise £472 and western Union £457 (no transfer fee) I’m guessing it’s a one off no transfer fee ?
After the problem with using Wise to fund your Thai visa properly, I would like to ask about the other services available.
I have, and have used in the past to fund our breaks Wise, Western Union, XE, and Revolut dependant on the exchange rate offered on the day.
We will be moving full time in January to our house in Chiang Mai, and I will be needing to open a bank account for myself, and transfer the funds required to satisfy my visa requirements, and to purchase a car.
Do the other services mentioned show monies transferred as international transfer, as using Wise on some days could cost a substantial amount in comparison to other providers on large sums ?

Hi all! I have a question for you, I applied for the DTV visa which one of the requirements was to have 500k baht liquidity, so I attached the document the bank statement in which I certified that I have € 13,577 where on the day I applied 500k baht were worth € 13,545, my concern is that between yesterday and today 500k baht are now worth € 13,600 so it exceeds the threshold of my bank statement, my question is: could this thing cause my visa to be rejected? Thanks a lot!
This is regarding what is the way to get the lowest cost of transferring from an non-Thai to Thai bank account:
Last night I paid Western Union INR 840,000 which gave me TBH 312,153 (INR 785,101) — that is a difference of INR 54,899 which is a cost of 6.54%.
My question is what method of transferring money into a Thai bank account costs equal to or less than 3%? 6.54% is high, isn’t it? What is the lowest percentage anyone has paid for transferring and what method did you use?
Hello. What is cheapest way to transfer funds to a Thai bank account? I was charged $250 to transfer $6,000 the last time. Is this normal? What is the cheapest way? TIA.
