Im on a retirement visa here and had the 800,000 baht in my Thai bank. Recently read that 400,000 baht must be the lowest amount maintained in the bank account.
Is this correct as I am unable to see any detail of this for this visa?
What is the impact if the amount is below 400,000 baht?
What are the advantages of having a Thai bank account except from QR Payments? I usually pay or withdraw by european credit card or exchange cash and never felt missing a Thai credit card. I dont't get it yet.
🚨UPDATE on third-party banking options like DeepPocket and Moreta, often considered alternatives for DTV holders without Thai bank accounts.
Be aware, online banking apps such as DeepPocket and Moreta have recently become popular, attracting many users.
However, after a surge in sign-ups, DeepPocket has altered its terms of service. Now, the QR-Scan feature is limited to 30-days and they will charge you 399THB every month for it!
Additionally, I ordered and received a Debit Card through the mail after waiting over a month, only to discover it's valid for less than a year…
So, if you believed these apps could fully substitute for a traditional bank account, think again! I strongly suggest securing a Thai bank account for seamless management of daily expenses.
I had my doubts from the start, suspecting these offers were too good to be true. Beware of these dubious apps that suddenly appear, tricking users into signing up only to impose fees later on.
When applying for a marriage visa do my pensions have to be deposited directly into a Thai bank account or can I just transfer the money from my British bank account into my Thai bank account? Many thanks.
So I’ve booked a one way ticket to Phuket late April. I’m well travelled and have been to SE Asia many times.
Planning on a retirement one year visa initially and may buy/start a business there.
So the process order is.
- find accommodation and get TM30
- arrange bank account and deposit 800,000bth
- apply for retirement visa
- this deposit has to be in for 2 months before I can apply.. yes?
- organise health insurance for $100,000us
Therefore as I have 60 days (I’m a kiwi coming for retirement visa, not elite) I have to a boarder run to get another 60 days until my deposit is recognised.
Good evening everyone, I am applying to volunteer through Helpx and Workaway hosts.
The host who has accepted me says I don't need a work permit as the work is not paid, but every group or forum I have looked at says the opposite is true. I will be volunteering legally but want to know that the Immigration Bureau also agrees that I don't need a work permit.
These rules of the Immigration service (and banks) are rather confusing.
I want to get a 'non O visa' but I need a Thai bank account, but of course I can't get a Thai bank account without the visa that the bank requires...
