I am looking to stay in Thailand for about 8 months. I'm fine with flying in and out of the country for renewals and such. I also would like to learn some Thai, what visa would you suggest?

Planning on getting a non immigration O visa later this year. Although I am married to a Thai national I have seen perhaps as I’m over 50 and can afford the financial requirements a retirement visa might be the way to go as opposed to a marriage visa, any thoughts! Thanks!

If I have made my LTR non refundable payment of $1700usd to the Thai Embassy website too soon. Then I was told I need to have the Thailand assets like a Real Estate investment to get my LTR Visa. Since I do not plan to purchase real estate here for another year or so, What is my best Visa option to start and then transfer to my LTR Visa once I own my real estate here. Also will the immigration office hold my payment as valid for 12 months while I secure a seperate visa until I qualify for my LTR Visa? Thank you in advance. Great group ...

Hi all,

I'm a couple of weeks away from needing to renew my retirement visa but thought I'd explore the possibility of going with the DTV instead. The main reasons are that I thought it might be easier and cheaper. My Thai bank account has dipped well under the 80000 baht which means I have to pay more for the retirement visa and I don't think I need to pay for health insurance with the DVT. I do have much more than the 800k btw, just prefer to keep in in my investments if possible at this point.

So, some questions:

1. I read somewhere that I can't apply for the dtv within Thailand. True or false?

1. I also read that I can't apply for a Thai bank account with a dtv but does that mean I need to close my current Thai account?

2. Do I need health insurance with a dtv?

3. Regarding the need to leave the country after 180 days how long do I need to be away for? Can that be done 20 or 30 days before if it's a more suitable time to travel for me?

4. I read that I may be able to just pay more after 180 days rather than leave. Is that true and if so how much?

Finally, if there are any Thai visa services business reading this can you please pm me.

Thank you, Stuart

What is my best option?

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for the great information and help, you are sharing in here. I have been looking into my options and I would kindly ask for your best advice, since I'm unsure what would be the best option for me.

1) 💰 Bank statement requirement:

I have more than 500.000 Thai bath on my account, but I have it, in my *company bank account *😏

Could one “change” the bank statement pdf, and put ones name on it, instead of my business name? 🤫

Or would it be a better option, to transfer the money to my personal account - and then transfer it back after approval? - problem here will be, that then I can't show a 3-6 months bank statement...

If I transfer the money, I would probably need to apply from a country, that only requires current bank statement, and not the last 3-6 months... I was looking into Myanmar, but it seems like it gets to complicated to go there.

2) 👩🏼‍💻 Soft power or digital nomad option:

a - It seems like the soft power, is a lot easier and have a better succes-rate. Is this your experience?

b - My former visa agent (used for ED visa), charges 65.000 bath (all incl) for the soft power option. I find this to be too much, especially since I don't intend to do the training and the fee is lost, if the visa does not goes through...

c - Could *yoga* be an option instead of Muay Thai (I know a yoga place, that offers this, just not sure if it's just as 'safe').

I managed to get myself so confused by now, that I'm considering to just do a second round of ED visa 🙃

All your help is much appreciated, thank you all in advance ☺️🙏🏼

We are married. For a retirement visa, do we both need to have 800k in a Thai bank (1600 total) or will 800k be sufficient for both of us. What are options if we don’t have the 1600k but want to stay for a year? TIA.

Im 51 years old abd here currently from UK on 60 day tourist visa excemption and plan to extend soon for 30 days.

However, i wish to apply for longer term 5 years visa, or 1 - 2 year visa with work permit, as I would like to live and work here.

When is best for me to apply? Should I do so now during this current tourist visa period?

Also what's the easiest longer term visa for me to apply for?
