What should I do after cancelling my ED visa in Thailand?

Good Afternoon,

I am currently on an ED visa, due to expire 30th June 2021. I have just recently graduated with a BA and am currently in the interview process to find employment. 

Yesterday, I was informed that I have until the end of this month to cancel my ED Visa or else I will go on to overstay.

I don't have a problem cancelling my ED visa, I just want to find out what do I do from then on?

Is it as simple as: Go to immigration with my cancellation letter. Cancel my Ed Visa. Transfer to a covid visa till I find employment? It sounds too easy/good to be true 😅

This whole situation is giving me heaps of anxiety and I hope someone can give me some clarity on the matter.

Other than leaving the country after you cancel your current ED extension the covid extension is about the only option you have. That will let you stay 60 more days.

You cancel your ED extension in Bangkok out at Chaengwattana (where you got the extension) and that's the same section you apply for a covid extension from.

okay, that's great news, so I will at least have 60 days to get my act together. I just hope the process is as straightforward as your explanation ☺️. I'm just happy/relieved to know that the covid visa is actually an option for me and I don't have to leave the country or pay a ridiculous fee.

Would you by any chance know, roughly, how much the above mentioned process would cost?

ALL extensions of stays inside the country at every immigration office are the same price 1900baht no matter the length of time they're issued for

Just to be sure, when I go to Chaengwattana, all I need is:

ED visa cancellation letter.

Covid extension form.

1900.

you might need proof you live in bangkok (a TM30 receipt) but if you got an ED visa extension already you should have that receipt already

Once I'm on the covid extension, will it be difficult to apply for Non B and work permit, once I find employment?

Someone mentioned to me that I may have an issue, what are your thoughts?

that is between you, your future employer and the immigration office you deal with

I'd say first concentrate on cancelling your ED extension and getting the 60 day covid extension so you can actually stay here :)

you're gonna need copies, a passport sized photo, a filled out TM7 and the other forms they hand you when you show up just like when you got your ED visa extension.

There are copy shops in the basement that can do the copies you need of your passport pages
