Hello, I have a question about my work visa for staying in Chiangmai. I got my work visa and work permit last June. Now my business is closed because of the corona virus. And the visa valid until 16 June 2020.

1)Can I stay as a tourist until at the end of July?

2)Do I have to cancel my work visa, then I can get a 3)permit for staying in Thailand?

4)When do I go to the immigration office to fix it?

I am thinking to have an ED visa, but all language schools told that I have to wait for reopening and my work visa should be clean. What does that mean?

You go cancel the work permit at the ministry of labor AND then you go cancel your extension of stay based on employment at the immigration office and then you will be allowed to stay until not longer than the 31st of july on the amnesty plan. You NEED to do the two things I mentioned to be covered on the amnesty

After you leave the company and cancel the work permit, you’ll be permitted to stay until the end of July under the current visa amnesty which gives you time to leave, or sort out your next visa.

Schools should open up by beginning July (if not sooner) so you can start to make arrangements then.

Did you have the big stamp from Immigration Office with the text Extension of Stay permitted up to 16 Jun 2020 or did you go to an Thai Consulate bought a new visa and on entry got the stamp 16 Jun 2020?

And you like to become a tourist, student, retiree, volunteer, or it does not matter as long as you get a visa that comes with what ever you need to do?
