You need to show the Ministry of Foreign affairs the information used to convince your embassy you actually earn what you claim to earn. They do this because some countries such as the US would let you swear on a Bible you earn what you claim.

I'm a similar age and I self insure. Insurance policies usually have deductible which is larger than most medical procedures.
