The only issue I see is it is now very difficult to open a bank account on a 60 day exempt visa.

in the case of the Aust Embassy, the Thais asked if they were going to guarantee the honesty of every declaration . Many? Maybe some? were abusing the system filling out false Stat Dec's, and the Embassy wasn't prepared to guarantee anything. So the thais said ok, we won't accept them from Aussies.

They have the legal right to say yes or no. As an immigrant you have no rights. Good luck trying to fight them.

I hope he has a reentry permit, or his visa will be null and void, and he will have to start the visa process again.

totally agree. I know heaps do, but a tourist visa is for just that. Tourism. Not for living here

I use that method in Chiang Mai, and as far as I know, they really don't care where or how it comes from, so long as it has FTT (Foreign Transfer) on the bank statement.

opening a bank account with a visa exempt (or tourist visa) is, at best, extremely difficult these days. The non o would be best for that

It can be more than one transfer, just make sure you have the magic EFT on your transfers. A pain in the what if you don't.
