DTV is stamped "employment prohibited" as well. It does seem this means local employment.

suggestions from where? MFA has said they won't.

@Gra***
I said may. But people have already re-entered and no one has been asked for anything. This is exactly how the MFA said it would work, and how other visas work, they don't ask for the proofs on every entry.

more likely they'd ask you when you were applying, before you paid, if you were doing it physically in Laos. It's most likely you will get the visa if they took the application and the money, they check the documents when you apply. It's the e-visa they come back to ask for more.

it's the second largest urban area in Thailand. Large or small is relative and sure it would be small in China but by Thai standards it's large, albeit much smaller than Bangkok which is a disproportionately large megacity, much larger than anything else.

you may need to show proof again for renewal but can avoid this by leaving and re-entering.

how can they do this to Americans, it must be against the 1st amendment

The limit before you have to declare for foreign currencies is 20k USD or equivalent. That's £15k at the moment. You can take above this, just have to declare it. THB limit is much lower, 50k THB other than to neighbouring countries.

20k USD or equivalent foreign currency for Thailand, and you can take more than that if you declare it. The limit is lower for THB, 50k other than to neighbouring countries.

yes, next time you need to extend with immigration, which can be 5 years away in this case as it's a multi entry 5 year visa and you don't have to extend in Thailand at all if you leave every 180 days.
