Hi, I am planning on doing my dtv soon and wanted to know whether on the visa that you have to show the immigration officer it states which type of soft power you registered for? And if you use a spefic gym is it then possible to switch to a different gym later on? Or is it possible to do a different type of soft power if you discover that muay thai is not for you😅, even though you when doing the application you did it under muay thai. Or does it simply state soft power and you can do whichever one you want when you want?

I’m looking to move to Thailand but unsure what Visa to go with. I’m 100% disabled and don’t work. So I’m unsure if I would qualify for DTV. I meet the other requirements. I could start freelancing but idk how long of a work history I need to show.

Hi everyone:

If I receive the visa and for the future 5 years I always exit the country within 90 days, is it correct to assume that I will never have to do a 90 days reporting nor pay any other fee until the end of the 5 year visa.

I assume that at any entry I will be granted 180 days till end of visa terms.

I travel regularly out of the country on a monthly base, so I would like to understand this better, thank you to anyone who can clarify

Ok so I am looking to get a residency certificate to buy a bike and the immigration center I went to asked me for the usual stuff (tm30, passport, photo) but also for all my dtv docs, meaning bank statements and Muay Thai course. Problem is I am in an island in the south and my Muay Thai course is in the North. What to do?

Approved in Hanoi!

I'd like to thank everyone in this group for sharing their experience, that's been super helpful. Here's mine with a French passport:

January 14th: Applied under the remote work category

January 14th: Requested additional documents: Page of my passport with the Vietnamese immigration stamp.

January 14th: Moved to "Pending Approval"

January 21st: No news, so I sent an email and called them. No one answered the phone. But around 5PM, I got the visa by email.

What I provided:

1. Savings account with more than 500k. I had about 600k at the time of application. My savings are on Revolut.

1. Work contracts + earning certificate from Upwork. I'm a freelancer with 3 clients in EU, US, UK, and other smaller projects on Upwork. So I merged all the signed contracts + the Upwork paper into 1 PDF.

1. A photo of my passport + my photo in front of the hotel with the room key. I suggest you to add the stamp from immigration too (I didn't). Merge all in a PDF doc too.

1. A flight number and where I planned to stay in Thailand. I booked a temporary flight ticket + a hotel with no credit card required for a month. They do not ask for a confirmation email or any screenshot.

I was in Sapa the whole time while waiting and it was fine.

Please keep in mind that Hanoi embassy will probably close next week due to the Lunar New Year, so it might take longer for you to get it.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again everyone that contributed in this group!

Regarding one-year extension based on married to Thai citizen.

I have already provided the necessary documents, next week I will go to get the extension at Chaeng watthana.

My question is:

Do I need update copy of bank book , and new bank certificate again?

I heard that, just having original bank book (updated in same day) is enough!

thx in advance

Hi, regarding the 60-day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family, can I apply for this based on having two half-Thai children here, rather than being married to their mother, as we divorced already? If so, what are the normal requirements? I am currently nearing the end of the last additional 90 days of a one-year Multiple Entry visa. Thank you for your advice. 🙏

I currently hold a DTV visa, and my stamp is valid until the 19th of January. I’ve already been in Thailand for almost six months.

A couple of days ago, I visited Immigration Division 1. I had received an email from them with a list of documents I needed to submit, and I ensured I had everything prepared. However, upon speaking with them, it turned out that my paperwork wasn’t sufficient. I had submitted proof of 500,000 baht across various bank accounts, but the superintendent also required a screenshot of... producing the statement. Additionally, they asked for a letter explaining my work and income since my arrival, as well as my future plans.

As they explained, I was the first person with a DTV visa to request an extension, and it seemed they were still trying to figure out the process themselves.

Today, I returned with the additional documents they requested, but it still wasn’t enough. Now, they are asking for bank statements for each account covering the last 30 days, and they plan to use the lowest balance in each statement to calculate the total sum of 500,000 baht.

On top of that, I was informed that I should have reported to “Counter A” after staying in Thailand for 90 days. And Because I didn’t, there’s now a fine of 2,000 baht. Stupid of me, but I didn’t happen to hear about this requirement.

The staff mentioned they are waiting for further instructions by Friday and I would need to check back with them by that day.

However, I’m starting to feel concerned. What if I submit everything again and it still isn’t enough? So now, I’m considering doing a border run, possibly tomorrow. From what I’ve been told, re-entering the country would automatically grant me another 180 days, avoiding all the complications with the extension process.

The officer I dealt with was polite and genuinely seemed to want to help, but it was clear they were uncertain about the requirements themselves and therefore they were being cautious and kind of… creative.

I thought I’d share my experience here, as it might be helpful to others in a similar situation.

If anyone has advice about the border run, I’d appreciate it. I’m about to look now into the cheapest destinations for a quick trip. I’m thinking of even staying for two nights wherever I go and maybe make something nice out of this experience.

Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated!
