DTV VISA EXPERIENCE JAKARTA — QUESTION ABOOT NEW PASSPORT
I got my dtv visa today in Jakarta. Super easy process. Applied on Monday with medical reason and got it today. Now on the plain to Bangkok.
However my passport is almost full and they also wrote on my visa that it expires within the 5 years (2027), but I probably need a new passport already early 2025. Does anyone has any experience with this? Do you travel with your old and new passport and can that give any problems?
How to handle entering on a new passport, when the eVisa is issued for the old / expired passport?
Since the DTV is a whopping 5 year visa, which lets your squeeze out even almost 6 years, it is likely that a currently valid passport will expire before the duration of the eVisa does. E.g. my passports expire in about 4.5 years.
Does anyone have confirmation how this situation is handled? So far I have heard that if you have a stamped visa or an extension of stay, that stamp can (and has to be) transferred into the new passport at immigration.
However, with PDF eVisa, no sich mechanism exists. Some statements claim that in that case, people should travel with both their expired passport matching the eVisa AND the new valid passport to be stamped in on. But I have not found any official information about that. Does entering on an expired passport + corresponding eVisa + new passport really work? Alternatives?
Hi I have a friend who left the country due to illness but never cancelled their visa their work cancelled their work permit. How can they cancel their visa can it be done from overseas or can they get an agent to do it here. Also their passport is full so they'll be getting a new passport.
Where in CW does one go to get visa transferred to a new passport ? I think no appointments are available for this so hopefully this can be done quickly. I really miss the old days when I could walk to Suan Plu.
I was advised to get a new passport. With the new passport in hand, I was able to get my Thai visa transfered to new passport.
I was worrying that I had to go back to Immgration office in Phuket, where visas were issued. No need to worry ... if your visas issued in Phuket, you get visa stamps transfered on same day. If visas issued in a different cities, transfer done next day.
The lesson: invest in a ziploc bag when cycling during the moonsoon.
