It’s not directly the DTV, but I just want to share my experience.

I got my DTV, it got stamped as usual for six months, as I had already had a thai driving license, I want to renew which you have to do after two years.

After two years, you get normally five years driving license.

So I went to the "Songkhla Provincial Land Transport Office HatYai” to renew.

After checking with a lot of employers they called the immigration where my certificate of residence was from, and they confirmed my Visa is only valid for six months.

So I got only the license for another two years instead of five because nobody knows what’s going on with the DTV 🤣

But one thing I have to say, all people that are very friendly and helpful, not like at the provincial land transport office in PhangNga.

Hello everyone 🙏

I just want to know if the ETA for Thailand is aktiv already? I heard some updates last december, they gonna launch this Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in january 2025. Since my wife and I gonna fly to Thailand on the 12.february, is there anything we need to fill out before entering the country?

We won’t have any Visa on arrival so that’s why.

Thank you for the efforts and advices in advance 🙏

Has the government still not confirmed the difference between getting the "Workcation" and the "Soft Power" versions of the DTV? If someone gets a DTV for a business in 3 years will they need to show its still operating or will Soft Power DTV holders need to show they are still enrolled in a Soft Power activity down the line? If the registration part is different but everyone gets the same visa then wouldn't everyone just get the Soft Power version because its easier if you dont have to prove you still do the Soft Power?

I'm in Thailand on a 12-month retirement visa but travel overseas about half of the time. Given that I foresee my travel pattern continuing for the foreseeable future and that I am unlikely to remain in Thailand for more than 60 consecutive days, is it even necessary to renew my retirement visa? If I can get a 60-day entry stamp every time I enter Thailand, I would be tempted to just let my retirement visa expire.

I have 3 questions on the DTV Visa.

1. Can you have a joint bank account with the 30k USD/1M Baht when you apply for the DTV visa? I don't want to give my wife 15k :)

2. Can you get a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa? I have read you can get one in Pattaya.

3. Is the requirement of a 180 stay mean, you need to leave Thailand and come back every 180 days for up to the 5 years? Basically a run for the border every 6 months...

DTV visa is my best option. I don't have a pension or any passive income yet to apply for the other visa options.

Hi everyone,

I know this topic often sparks passionate discussions on Facebook, I’m not sure why, but I’m asking because I couldn’t find the information in official sources.

If you’re traveling around Asia and applying for a DTV or another Thai visa (following the online process in the country you’re currently in), what happens if the process takes 10 days or more and you’re in a different country by the time it’s completed?

Has anyone been in this situation and can share their experience or advice?

Please, I’m looking for factual insights and not speculation or aggressive comments.

NOTE: For those who argue that in the past, you needed to wait in the same country where you applied, I believe the main reason was that you had to pick up your passport. Even in the worst-case scenario back then, the waiting time was never as long as the 10 days (or more) that many are currenlty experiencing with DTVs or other visas.

Thanks

With our kids 90 day non-ED visa, do we have up until its expiry to apply for the 1 year extension? (noting that we're still waiting for school paperwork to be completed & their visas expire 4th Feb). I've tried to research this myself, but all that I can find that is definitive is that you can apply after 45 days have elapsed from the issue date, but then conflicting info as to what's the last day you can apply for the renewal ... with 15 & 30 days often cited, as well as, right up until the expiry date. Could someone please clarify for me? Thanks!

Hi! Has anyone successfully added their parent as a dependent to their DTV? Looking for advice and tips. FWIW, I got my DTV from the Thai embassy in Los Angeles.
