Earlier in the year foreign clients of Kasikorn Bank received communication about Commonn Reporting Standard (CRS) and FATCA (for US citizens). There was a need to complete and submit forms.
Now Bangkok Bank has started the communication and it is predicted all foreign account holders of accounts in all banks will have to complete the forms.
The main question for DTV holders on the form is "Country of Residence" and "TIN" or if no TIN specific reason. This is for Tax Reporting to country of residence which Thailand signed up to.
i got my DTV and i am searching for a thai bank to open account (I am in bangkok now) but right now all banks told me they cant open with DTV visa, anyone had same experience? any advice? thank you
Everything else: Where is the post from Malcolm Dolly Dale about expats receiving Mail from Kasikorn Bank with request for filling out forms for selfdeclaration etc. all for tax transparency 🤷🏻♀️ I had questions they were answered and now it says post doesn‘t exist anymore 🙁.
Can you recommend any agent in Bangkok that would handle opening Bank Account on DTV visa? I got one offer, but 15k THB is insanely high. DTV = you have money = rip off?
Hi there. I'm just trying to understand the bank account situation before applying for the DTV.
Its my understanding that I need to have THB 500,000 siting untouched in a Thai bank account for period of time before I can apply for the DTV.
My question is; how can you establish a Thai bank account if you don't already live in Thailand? Also, its my understanding that you can't obtain a permanent residential address (to open a bank account) unless you have some form of visa already allowing you to live Thailand.
Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
