Niche DTV bank account post info that might help others in a similar situation. I've had a BKK bank account for a few years that I opened on a Non-O retirement visa back before DTV's were a thing. Switched to DTV when it came out as it works best for the wife and I. My debit card expired last week and I'm on a new passport since I opened the bank account. Thought uh-oh I'm on a DTV now, maybe BKK bank won't let me get a new card. They sent all the details off to Bangkok head office and 1 week later I had a new debit card good for 4 years. So even though we are now on DTV's I could still get a new debit card. While bank people were helping me and talking in Thai I could hear the phrase DTV a couple of times so they definitely knew I was on one. Only thing I use the card for is Grab as we always do card-less ATM withdrawals to avoid skimmers. The card spent it's life in a drawer and only when Grab stopped working did I know it had expired.
i got my DTV and i am searching for a thai bank to open account (I am in bangkok now) but right now all banks told me they cant open with DTV visa, anyone had same experience? any advice? thank you
Hi. I have a single thai savings account keeping the 800k as well as monthly xfers of 65k. I regularly draw from the 65k for living expenses with a debit card.
I would like to seperate these to 2 different accounts so the 800k is 100% safe.
If I go to the bank and ask for a second account, is it important to keep the 800k in the same account? Or will immigration accept seeing it bump over to the other account?
I ask because of the debit card - if I should request one for the new account or if they tell me to use the one card for the current account. Hope that makes sense. I will ask the same question at the bank but welcome any pointers here for immigration purposes. Thanks
I have a BBL account in Pattaya and have now moved to Khon Kaen and had to open a new BBL account there.
Now I have 2 bank books.
At the bank they said that I can show both bank books when I extend my retirement visa for the second time.
I want to transfer the entire 800k to the new bank account.
When should that be (I would like to do it now)?
Do I still have to show the bank documents from the old bank in Pattaya (if the bank account is near empty) when I extend my visa for the 1 year (it won't be easy logistically to do everything on the same day)?
I won't be a tax resident until 2025.
Is there anything to consider regarding taxes regarding the timing of the transfer of the 800k from the old to the new bank?
Hi DTV squad. Just wanted to ask for recommended service agents to help open a joint Thai account (my wife and I). We both got our DTV and are British. One service agent quoted me 15,000 baht a person and through a Pattaya branch. Seems very expensive! If anyone has had a positive and reasonably priced experience would be grateful to be pointed in the right way. Thank you in advance and apologies if this has posted already!
