TLDR : Answer Summary
Holders of a Digital Tourism Visa (DTV) may face challenges when trying to open a bank account in Thailand. While it is technically possible, many expats and forum members report difficulties, with some banks denying account requests citing DTV as the reason. To improve their chances, individuals can either visit multiple bank branches or hire an agent to facilitate the process, although using an agent may not always guarantee long-term access to the account. Users also note that recent changes in banking laws have made it more difficult for those on tourist-related visas to establish bank accounts, suggesting that preparation and local assistance may significantly help.
No, and my thoughts on it are, if we do. It is purely to make tax easier which I will look into next tax year (as far as I understand 1st Jan-31st December). Then, only transfer in $150,000 baht or less to remain under the lowest tax bracket and spend the rest with revolut and wise which at this point (as well as withdrawls from ATMs) seems to be if ignored/exempt. Not advice, just how I am taking it.

Get an apartment at rent with docs, get a temparory drivers license
You can visit and ask at dozens and dozens of different bank branches until you find one that will allow it (not easy) or get an agent and have it within a few hours for an additional $125 usd (approximately). Either way, will likely need to buy the insurance so that is the same either way.
banks push you to buy an insurance policy when you get a bank account. They earn a commission from the sales and this is one factor that helps them "decide" to open the account
