Derek Dawson At some point those of us who live here, invest here, hire lots of Thais etc etc would like to be treated like we are welcome guests. I don't mind paying visa fees, taxes etc what I object to is bureaucratic nonsense that really serves no purpose other than to provide jobs for immigration staff. The Thais really do like their paperwork, although having spoken to some immigration people the ones doing it hate having to process forms as much as we hate submitting them.

Tod, yeah I know. Actually I didn't do 90 day reports when I first came here and was on a WP. Instead I flew out every 90 days and enjoyed a few days in HK or Singapore.

I'm setting up a business here and one in Saigon. I'll live in Bangkok but plan to spend at least one week a month in Saigon. So won't ever need to do 90 day reports as flying in/out achieves the same thing.

Can't answer but jeez when is Thailand going to stop being a bunch of *unts and start making it easier for people to actually come and live here? You speak Thai, you went to school here, you've lived here forever, you've got a Thai kid, a Thai husband, you have a growing restaurant business any you *still* can't just stay here without reporting every 90 friggin days!

After 7 years in Hong Kong you pretty much automatically get full residence. I've been in Thailand 9 years and I might as well have arrived yesterday. I'm investing into this country but it pisses me off that they don't seem to care (or even notice).

I applied for a 90 day single entry. I've been living here for 9 years on a combination of tourist visas and visa exempts.

I've decided to setup a food manufacturing business in Thailand so I'm in the process of setting up a company. I'll probably need to get another 90 days non B before I get to apply for a work permit.

I'm sure they said it was next day service for Tourist visas and 2 days for Non B. So I was pleasantly surprised to get next day service for my non b.

It's not just a matter of time. There is also the fact that they don't ask any questions about your previous visas, your work status etc they basically treat you as a rich person, therefore a socially superior person. Which for 1200 baht is a good deal.

Thanks Tod. First time I've heard anything like this. Guessing this applies only to one year type extensions not the regular 30 day ones.

Why did you need to cancel your visa? When you leave it is automatically cancelled.

Where did you have an issue? Which airline were you trying to fly into Thailand on?
