(edited) The DTV launched in July last year, so during the past couple of weeks, the first visa holders who stayed the full initial 180 days should have started leaving and re-entering Thailand. For anyone who has recently done this, could you please tell us of your experiences. I am particularly curious about people who obtained their visa based on something short term (like a four month cooking class), and whether they were scrutinised by Immigration Officers on whether their original DTV justification is ongoing. Cheers.
For those with DTV visa - just did my first exit trip to Vietnam (5 day trip) and re entry to dmk. No questions asked, no issues, another 6 month stamp.
Hi all, has anyone recently finished one year of education visa in Thailand and then tried to return to Thailand on a tourist visa within a few weeks/one month of leaving? Wondering if there is any anecdotal evidence about how immigration officers are responding to this at various borders. Thanks so much in advance!
Just a quick post about our experience bringing our 12 year old niece from Vietnam to Thailand. Something we've not done before - traveled with a child, and also not our own child. We got the Viet government form, which lists the Mother & Father, has my wife's information too. All notarized, which we had translated to English, and notarized. Checking into the Tan Son Nhat airport, the Viet Air desk, or Immigration, never checked anything but her passport. When we arrived at Suvarnabhumi, immigration never asked either. Must say I was a bit surprised, but happy.
Update: had a good experience crossing the border from Thanaleng (Laos) back to Nong Khai. We didn’t do a border run exactly, we stayed for 5 days (Also surprised about Vientiane, its a nice place if you want to take a break from busy Bangkok). IO didn’t asked questions, everything went very fast and easy. If you already have 2 visa exempt I suggest to do a border run through Nong Khai - Laos.
Hello,
I have a question about crossing land border between Nongkhai to Laos. Me and my boyfriend are Dutch and we both entered Thailand twice by air since October ‘22 (2 times visa exempt). Our current visa exempt is till January 14th. We are thinking about doing our first border run from Nongkhai to Laos, because we haven’t set a date for our return flight (probably end of February). I think if we enter Thailand by air again the immigration officer at the airport will ask us questions about our stay in Thailand and probably need to show a outbound flight.
Do you think we can do a border run for a new visa exempt without any problems?
