We are getting reports of people a various offices being told that the covid program has stopped. :O It has not. .. :/
No matter what you're being told the current covid extension program runs until Jan 25th right now.
What has happened is the government passed an amnesty (like they did from March 26 - Oct 31 2020). This one runs from Dec 7th until Dec 31st 2021.
That means anyone who has a stamp expiring between when the amnesty was implemented Dec 7th - Dec 31st AND is leaving the country by 11:59PM Dec 31st does NOT need to get any extension and they will NOT be charged for overstay when they stamp out.
For people who are going to continue to stay IN the country on covid extensions this amnesty doesn't affect you and you should go apply for your 60 day extension like you planned.
At Muang Thong Thani Immigrations here in Bangkok, they are now having people sign a form stating you do NOT want the amnesty (as you're not leaving by Dec 31st) and instead want to apply for a covid extension.
One more time, the current 60 day covid extension program has not been cancelled, not stopped and runs until Jan 25th
BUT
With that being said, remember this most recent police order that continued the 60 day covid program from Nov 27th to Jan 25th specifically said they will be more strict in issuing these extensions.
AND
you might be asked for proof of onward travel (during the time your new extension would expire) OR you might be denied.
Please understand people that these covid extensions are NOT something foreigners here have a right to have :( not by a long shot. They are totally 100% issued at the discretion of the office/officer.
Here's the letter people are signing at MTT now saying they are not taking amnesty and want a covid extension
Can I go to Chiangwattana for O visa renewal, reentry permit and proof of residency certificate (for driving license renewal) or is some of this done at Muang Thong Thani?
I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I am a little confused in regards to where to go for Covid extension if you are Bangkok resident: Chaengwattana or Muang Thong Thani Immigration?
Hello, I have arrived from France (holding a French passport) on a visa exemption scheme in phuket. I am now in Bangkok leaving at my boyfriend’s place. My stamp is valid until November 6 but I would like to extend my stay for another 30 days (or more with the covid extension). I have looked into old posts and comments to get answers for my particular situation but it’s quite confusing. Very sorry if the info have been shared already...
Here are my questions:
- Do I have to go to chaeng Watthana, Mueang thong thani the immigration office for temporary visa or any immigration office to get my 30 days extension ? (If you know the exact counter that would be super helpful too)
- Should I go there on the expiration date of my stamp (November 6th), or like a week before ?
- Any documents I need to submit? I saw a comment regarding the TM30 that needed to be submitted by the owner of the apartment. Unfortunately I had no idea I had to do that... Can this be done now that I have been here for 2 weeks?
Hi, I would like to ask some advice about the notification of residence of foreigner. Can I do it together with the visa extension in Chaengwattana Immigration? Or do I have to go to the MTT separately?
My husband is on a non-imm "O" visa and we are applying for another covid extension. His visa expires on 10th Oct. and we are supposed to do the 90 days report on the 1st Oct.
So, I was wondering if these can all be done it one place...
Need some advice, arrived here last month on 45 day visa exempt stamp and due to unforeseen circumstances I'm gonna need to apply for the extension, what's the quickest way to go about this? My 45 days runs out 27th sept.
