Just need some clarification regarding health insurance for an OX retirement visa……do I have to let immigration know when the Thai insurance has been renewed? There has been no repercussions when I have travelled OS from Samui but friends of mine were fined recently? Has there been a change in this?
I have been on an OX retirement visa for over a year, and just went to immigration to do my 90 day report as usual. But this time I was told that I don't have to do this every 90 days on the OX visa, I only have to do it once a year. Has this changed recently?
So he gave me a Receipt of Notification saying that the next notification is due on 7 October 2025, which is one year after my previous 90 day report. That's a little odd, he seems to have tried to correct the previous report by backdating it, but you would think it should be either one year from my entry or one year from now. Whatever his logic was, that's the date on my receipt now.
I will be leaving the country and coming back in April, and he explicitly said I only have to report again a year after my re-entry.
I just tried to find information on the web about whether things have changed, and read there is some requirement to do a "qualification check" every year, which I've never heard of before, and haven't done since I first entered on my visa 20 months ago. It doesn't really make sense as every time I enter I get stamped in for 5 more years. Is this qualification check something new too? What conditions need to be met to qualify, and what happens if I don't qualify? Do they cancel the visa even though I still have a valid entry stamp?
I suspect the immigration officer misinterpreted something and I do still need to do the 90 day report every 90 days. It seems the OX visa is uncommon and many immigration officers are unsure what the rules are. For example, I've never once received the correct date on my entry stamp, which should always be 5 years from the date of entry.
My attempt to google for answers has only raised more questions. It suspect there is no need for any qualification check, otherwise they would have demanded it when I went to do my last couple of 90 day reports.
Could someone please explain what the rules are? Should I go to immigration 90 days after I re-enter Thailand? Or can I wait at least until October 7 which is printed on my current Receipt of Notification, even though that is for my current entry?
With an ox visa you have to report to immigration yearly to show your bank details and medical insurance which was due today. They told me date you have to report resets if you leave the country to a year from when you return which is 11th November 2025
I'll be applying for a Long Stay Visas (OA, OX) this year and i'm just trying to get my head around the two Insurance requirements and the difference between them.
1. Foreign Insurance Certificate issued from the country where the application is submitted
2. Health Insurance issued by a Thai or foreign insurer for general illnesses
I am a 60 year old Aussie arriving mid April, with a 12 month lease, I will be applying for a retirement visa. I have over 800k in a Thai account and 5 months saving a month history of over 65k. What is my best options. I would like to have access to my savings straight away.
Before the new changes you could get a 5 year OX Visa with $150k in an Australian Bank acct. Now its 3mil Thb in a Thai Bank acct. Can you get a 5 year OX Visa in Thailand with 800k Thb? TIA

Hey guys. I have a 1 yr O-A visa. Before it expires, what options do I have? Can I extend 1 year without going thru the application process again? Can I apply for the 10 year visa provided I have the funds in an an account?
