Hi all, I noticed this post [members only]/ from about 2 months ago, but I would like to ask what are the requirements for applying first time around, not for extension. I just re-entered Thailand today on a 60-day visa exemption. My Thai child will be born in a few weeks. Can I apply inside Thailand (Udon) or do I have to apply at Vientiane? Can I go from visa-exempt to Non-Imm O based on Thai child? Will it take the form of an initial 90-day visa, followed by an extension for the year? How long does 400,000 THB need to be in the bank for? Any other requirements specific to the first time application? Many thanks! 🙏

I’m considering a retirement visa. Currently in Thailand on a 60 day stamp until Jan 18. I don’t really want to stay in Thailand more than 180 days a year and likely would want to enter and leave 3 - 4 times a year, but also usually leave and return during those stays for a holiday outside of Thailand with my gf. So far I’ve just been getting passport stamps. They have started to ask more questions and hesitate sometimes on the past few entries. I do have $800k in Bangkok Bank for several years. I’m staying with gf now in Tha Bunmi area of Chonburi. We got a TM - 30 filed recently. Unfortunately the address was entered 90 rather than 99 when they registered the place i’m staying. Staying with gf in a room she gets as manager of a factory. Asked them to try and fix the registration address. Flight out of Thailand Feb 17, so would file for a 30 day extension, or should I try to get a Non O retirement visa early next week at Jomtien? Maybe I won’t really be here long enough to get an actual 1 year retirement visa? Apply for a Non 0 the next time I come to thailand? I get more confused the more i read

Hi all I’m just after some info as I’ll be selling my uk home soon so in order for preparation to move to Thailand, is it best to apply for a marriage visa before I leave the uk (I am married to a Thai) and if so how soon before as I’m guessing it will be valid for a short period before entry? Another question as I have the money to the amount of 400k thb ready to transfer to my Thai bank, how soon does that need to be in my Thai bank if applying for a visa while in the uk?

# Thanks for the invite! I am 60 years old and recently retired. My wife is only 46. We are citizens of the US. We are thinking of Chiang Rai because of the air quality and smaller size of the city. We are trying to figure out the best way to obtain the visa. For myself it looks like the O-A visa for one year is our best option (though renewing every year seems like a hassle). The O-X for five years seems nice, but we hate to lock-in a good chunk of money in a bank account just sitting there unused. We do have investments at Fidelity that has partnered with the Krungthai Bank, but even if we tied our accounts to that bank, not sure if it counts as a "fixed" deposit even if my pension went into the account (the Thai Bank would still have a fairly low balance). Now concerning my wife, I heard there is an "O" visa that attaches to mine "O-A" visa? I am not sure how this works. Is it still for a year? What is needed on her end? I truly appreciate any help that you can give! Thank you.

I am in Thailand on a Non Immigrant O visa(90days) and have the 800.000 in a Thai bank account and can provide the other requirements. I want to apply for a 1 year extension before the 90 days are over. The question is: Is there a limit to the amount of times one can apply/get a 1 year extension?

Hi everyone, I am US citizen coming to Thailand for retirement visa. I already have a BBL account from a previous retirement visa (had to let it lapse because of a emergency). I paid an agent back then. Question - where do I find the list of required documents to do it myself? I know I need to change to NON O first 3 months and then retirement but cannot find a list of the documents required for either. TIA
