This is an FYI, and not a question, about something that caught me off guard yesterday. I live in Prachuap Khiri Khan province (Hua Hin) on a non-imm O retirement VISA. Yesterday 2 immigration agents came to my home and said they needed photos of me standing inside and outside of my home. Also, they needed a picture of me standing by my post box. They said it was a new policy from Bangkok immigration. They are verifying addresses last reported on the TM30. I thought this was only done for marriage VISAs. They were pleasant and polite during their visit. Just surprised me.
Im arriving in Thailand and i get a 30 day visa exempt, my Q is, im applying for O Retirement visa, i meet all the 50+ financial needs, address etc, however i see that a review can take 2-3 weeks, thats the problem, as i stated im on a 30 day visa exempt i could run out of time, should i first apply for 30 dat extention first THEN CAN I APPLY FOR O RETIREMENT IN THE EXTRA TIMEFRAME,. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
It is soon the time to extend my husband's stay based on the O-A visa. This is the second extension. His health insurance runs out on 25 October this year. When can he go to get this done and does the new insurance need to start from 26 Oct please?
Many thanks in advance for your help which is always truly appreciated. Take care!
Can anyone please clarify if Samui immigration will process the application to change Visa Type from TV to "O". Application for Change of Visa (TM.86). Thanks
In answer to another recent question now closed, it was stated that applicants who are married to each other and are 50 years of age or over cannot make use of the dependent (follow) extension (for one of them). As far as I know, this is, in fact, allowed, and wondered where the notion arises that when someone turns 50 they would suddenly no longer qualify for a dependent extension they would have qualified for before turning 50. This does not seem to be the case in Phuket so can anyone cite where the rule mentioned in the first sentence comes from
Someone referred to an on-line visa which was probably a reference to the E-Visa system that, it appears from the attached, is being tested in three countries (this from the Thai Embassy in Paris). The London site has some useful information here - [[members only]).
May explain why Thai Consulates around the world are all doing something different as they await the result of the trials.
I also hear that 2nd applications for O-A visas are being subjected to a further requirement for Retirement ie. 800k in a Thai Bank.
Looks to me as though Thailand in the future will only want ex-pat retirees if they have made an investment in cash.
