Hello, I am currently residing in Thailand with a non-immigrant b visa with work permit but I would like to leave my current situation and apply for the DTV instead. Does anyone have experience or know how it works applying for the DTV when already on another visa? Thank you.
My work permit will be cancelled on the 31st December following redundancy.
My passport has a multiple entry stamp until July but I understand this will be cancelled too and I’ll have 7 days to leave the country after the WP is cancelled.
What is the simplest/most cost effective way to leave and re-enter while I continue to job hunt?
Hello, I'm cancelling my work permit and non-B and my child's Ed visa this week with immigration. We are then exiting to Cambodia to return back here on a tourist visa. I have an Australian passport and my child a British passport. I was told I get 30 days and she gets 60 days both with the visa waiver. I can then get another 30 days after that? We leave here for my new job at the very end of Jan. Is there anything else I need to do/think of? Do I need to lodge any paperwork for the tourist visa or anything? I'm at immigration this week and honestly, I'm worried they won't let us back in on a tourist visa and all my stuff in our house will be lost 🤣😂😅
Asking for a friend- summarized at bottom. It’s a bit long, but it’s also a bit intricate so everything needs to be mentioned. I’m not AUS so I don’t know, hoping to get some useful answers here. Friend was teaching and had a WP- school was scandalous*shocker* and says they will be cancelling it. Friend is feeling like they might even get ripped off for their last paycheck 🤦🏻♀️ traveling w/young child the school didn’t attach to friend’s visa… they put the tot on an Ed visa.
I know some schools threaten to cancel the WP, but in some places it costs money so they just threaten but don’t actually do it.
They have another job lined up elsewhere and just need to sit tight til Jan 1. Can they exit and re enter as tourist? Does AUS have any exempt period? How exactly is it done? Buy evisa or what?
I haven’t gone out and come in in awhile. Plot twist- the tot has UK passport.
Long and short- AUS teacher w/ proper visa status fired, young tot on Ed visa and has UK passport. Can teacher and tot exit and reenter as tourists? Any exemption time?
Steps to do? School said WP will be off by 29 Nov 🙄
so of course they’re panicked. Only need to be in Thailand until Jan 1. Thanks
Approval from Hanoi today😃. Here is my experience for anyone interested:
Prior to leaving for Hanoi I filled in everything online and submitted:
Passport Bio Page
Passport photo
PDF of Screenshot of 1st page of October Revolut bank statement showing UK£12k+ balance, the money in/out section & 3/4 transactions. Solely the first page. I also added to PDF a screenshot of XE.com current THB value of balance shown on statement.
5 letters from clients confirming I work remotely for them on freelance basis and stating that this work can be carried out in Thailand & also a freelance work contract(10 pages!) from another client.
Arrived in Hanoi at 9.15 last Friday and then uploaded photo of Vietnam arrival stamp in passport from the airport. Finalised application, submitted & paid.
Status went to Processing Payment immediately and about 2 hours later changed to Pending Document Check & a further 2-3 hours changed to Pending Approval.
As I already have a Non B visa & Work Permit I was worried they would say this needs to be cancelled before DTV approved.
Approx 6pm today receive Approved email. No other documents requested.
Fyi I flew back to Thailand yesterday(typical!) so now I need to do a border bounce to activate after cancelling Non B & Work Permit. This was always my plan as I did not want to stay more than 5 days waiting in Hanoi and also not have re-entry permit in place before departing just in case it was declined.
All in all a simple process. If you have the necessary docs available just submit and wait, dont stress! If it happens it happens, if they ask more docs then give what you can, that was my thinking and theory anyway.
I now hold 2 visas and a work permit. The visa I have been using is a business visa, the "owns 49% of the company" kind. The work permit is associated with that visa.
I now have a DTV and I intend to enter Thailand using the DTV.
I need to cancel the business visa and work permit. Is that something I can do myself? What is the procedure for that?
I currently have a work permit and business visa for the last year and 1/2 through a company I recently sold my shares in. The remaining owners of the company plan to close the company soon. But I am not sure of the timetable.
I am aware that if a company doesn’t cancel someone’s work permit and then I leave Thailand without a re-entry permit which effectively cancels my non-b visa. It can flag up on the system and then they will receive a fine.
What is the process to ensure they don’t get this fine when I leave to get a DTV in about 2 weeks. Do they simply need to inform the labour department to cancel my work permit? I want to try and inform them of the process to make it as easy for them to complete. As they are a small company with limited knowledge about these matters.
