I’ve been researching the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) process but would love some guidance from those who have already gone through it recently.

Current Situation:

• Location: Chiang Mai

• Thai Soft Power Activity: I found a Muay Thai gym with experience in DTV applications

• Financials: Foreign bank account with 500,000+ THB

• Accommodation: My lease expires in a month, but it is in my girlfriend’s name

Goal:

To get the DTV as fast as possible with possibly minimal cost involved.

Options:

1. Apply online from Romania (This would cost me more money because the flight tickets are very expensive).

2. Apply online from a neighboring country (e.g., Vietnam) (I don’t understand exactly how the process works when applying online from a country other than my own).

Questions:

1. Is there a difference in processing times between applying from Romania vs. a neighboring country? I’ve heard Romania takes longer, even though both are online.

2. Do they require proof of long-term accommodation in Thailand when applying from Vietnam?

3. Some applications mention proof of salary for the past six months—how does this affect unemployed applicants?

Is there a basic list of things that everyone needs to do in order to get qualified for the DTV?

I'll be applying for the DTV from Vietnam next week and have a few questions about the process.

I have worked abroad for a long time and have moved around an awful lot so I haven't been liable to pay tax anywhere. I have read that many folks are being asked to provide tax returns.

Has anyone successfully applied for and been granted the DTV without being asked for evidence of paying tax? I, of course have the funds in the bank and have done so for at least six months.

I am an English tutor that works online and is self-employed.

Would it be better for me to mention up-front on my cover letter that I am unable to provide evidence of tax returns, or is it best to wait for them to ask? Does it usually slow the process down?

I'd appreciate any info.

I want to share my experience with my DTV application process in Singapore. I applied for a workcation visa as an S-pass holder. As I couldn't find much information about Singapore and came across several comments mentioning that the process in Singapore required too many documents, and I can confirm that it really is.

Jan 3rd (Fri) - Submitted my application

Jan 6th (Mon) - They asked for additional documents because there weren't available upload sessions when I first submitted them.

Jan 7th (Tue) - They called me to request more proof of my residence in Thailand, including the owner's ID, lease agreement, invitation letter from my friend currently residing there and his passport.

Jan 9th (Thu) - Pending Approval

Jan 15th (Wed) - Returned to “Pending document check”

Late evening on Jan 15th, called me to resubmit my S-Pass, despite already submitting it.

On Jan 16th, I emailed them to check on my application status as my travel date is approaching. An hour later, my visa was approved.

Just got approved for DTV and sharing my timeline here.

Canadian, applied in Canada. (Handled by Thai Consulate Ottawa, application fee: $650 CAD = ~15500 THB)

Dec 24 - submitted application, attached proof of balance, employment letter

Dec 27 - additional documents requested:

1. Letter from the company explicitily stating that my work can be done remotely

2. Company registration document showing that the company is legitimately up and running.

-> HR provided me these

Dec 30 -> submitted above two additional documents

Jan 3 -> approved

Considering it was a holiday season, im quite impressed how quickly this was done.

Hi, where should I start to get my DTV? I have my online business and want to move to Thailand.

Is there a guide somewhere or something I can refer to? I mean, not necessarily the government one, also like maybe youtube videos or anything to inform me about steps or tips&tricks.

I recently helped my friend successfully apply for a Digital Thailand Visa (DTV). As an immigration case worker, I have experience in this field, but I found the DTV process straightforward enough for anyone to handle with the right preparation.

## Applicant’s Background:

* Employment: Remote worker since July 2022

* Immigration history: Applicant has traveled to Thailand and stayed multiple times using the 60-day visa exemption. He has also extended a tourist visa while inside Thailand. I initially thought about addressing this point to the visa officer but ultimately decided to ignore it.

## Documents Submitted (Dec 10, 12:03 AM):

1. Cover Letter *(Optional but Recommended)*: Helps visa officers understand your circumstances, reasons for applying, and facilitates faster decision-making.

2. Employment Reference Letter

3. Employment Contract

4. Payslips (Last 6 Months)

5. Bank Statements (Last 3 Months): Showed a minimum balance of 500,000 THB. *(Tip: The fund doesn't need to have been in the account for months; transferring it before submission is acceptable.)*

Note: All documents must be translated into English.

## Request for Additional Documents (Dec 12, 11:48 AM):

After submission, we received a request for the following:

1. Employment Contract, Certificate, or Professional Portfolio: Must showcase status as a digital nomad, remote worker, freelancer, or foreign talent.

2. Company's Business Registration

*Important Note for Remote Workers**:

* Ensure your employer’s business registration document is ready for submission in case it's requested.

* Your employment reference letter must explicitly state that you are a *“remote worker.”*

## Approval Received (Dec 13, 6:48 PM):

After submitting the additional documents, the visa was approved in just 18 hours.

## Tips for a Smooth DTV Application:

1. Organize Employment Documents:

Combine the following into a single PDF file: Cover Letter

Employment Reference Lette, Payslips, Employment Contract, Resume

Add a table of contents for clarity. *(See the attached image for reference.)*

2. File Naming:

Use clear and organized file names for each document. *(Example: "Your Full Name_Document Name.pdf")*

3. Employer Business Registration:

Request this document from your employer in advance.

4. Clear Mention of Remote Work:

Ensure your employment contract or reference letter states you are a *“remote worker.”*

Approval from Hanoi today😃. Here is my experience for anyone interested:

Prior to leaving for Hanoi I filled in everything online and submitted:

PDF of Screenshot of 1st page of October Revolut bank statement showing UK£12k+ balance, the money in/out section & 3/4 transactions. Solely the first page. I also added to PDF a screenshot of XE.com current THB value of balance shown on statement.

5 letters from clients confirming I work remotely for them on freelance basis and stating that this work can be carried out in Thailand & also a freelance work contract(10 pages!) from another client.

Arrived in Hanoi at 9.15 last Friday and then uploaded photo of Vietnam arrival stamp in passport from the airport. Finalised application, submitted & paid.

Status went to Processing Payment immediately and about 2 hours later changed to Pending Document Check & a further 2-3 hours changed to Pending Approval.

As I already have a Non B visa & Work Permit I was worried they would say this needs to be cancelled before DTV approved.

Approx 6pm today receive Approved email. No other documents requested.

Fyi I flew back to Thailand yesterday(typical!) so now I need to do a border bounce to activate after cancelling Non B & Work Permit. This was always my plan as I did not want to stay more than 5 days waiting in Hanoi and also not have re-entry permit in place before departing just in case it was declined.

All in all a simple process. If you have the necessary docs available just submit and wait, dont stress! If it happens it happens, if they ask more docs then give what you can, that was my thinking and theory anyway.

This has probably been asked a few times before, so apologies for any repetition (I did try to have a look through the group)!

My wife and I are going to be applying for the DTV from the UK soon.

We are both Product Managers and have full time jobs/contracts but we are leaving our current roles and are planning to go freelance with nothing lined up just yet.

Just as additional info: My current role (that I am leaving) is a full time contract. I work remotely but my contract does have my 'official' base as London. I am allowed to work remotely abroad for a certain amount of time a year.

For the portfolio - has anyone had experience just using an adapted CV? Has this proved an issue at all when applying for the visa?

Additionally - are we better off applying for the Visa as a couple or applying separately? Or does it make no difference?

I'm a 48yo Australian digital nomad looking to secure a Thai Digital Nomad DTV. However, I'm already living as a digital nomad, so the only residence I have is a rented condo in Thailand.

After a costly $900 rejection trying to apply for the at the Budapest Thai Embassy while on holiday (they only serve Hungarian nationals), I now have two options:

1) Try again from Phnom Penh Cambodia when I travel there in Oct. I have a hotel booked for 2 weeks and plans to return to Thailand afterwards.

2) Wait until I return to Australia at Christmas. Note though that don't own or rent anything in Australia. I stay with my sister when there, so can't prove residence in the normal ways.

Any advice? Has anyone faced applying for this thing while already travelling the globe?
