Niche DTV bank account post info that might help others in a similar situation. I've had a BKK bank account for a few years that I opened on a Non-O retirement visa back before DTV's were a thing. Switched to DTV when it came out as it works best for the wife and I. My debit card expired last week and I'm on a new passport since I opened the bank account. Thought uh-oh I'm on a DTV now, maybe BKK bank won't let me get a new card. They sent all the details off to Bangkok head office and 1 week later I had a new debit card good for 4 years. So even though we are now on DTV's I could still get a new debit card. While bank people were helping me and talking in Thai I could hear the phrase DTV a couple of times so they definitely knew I was on one. Only thing I use the card for is Grab as we always do card-less ATM withdrawals to avoid skimmers. The card spent it's life in a drawer and only when Grab stopped working did I know it had expired.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of successfully obtaining a new debit card from Bangkok Bank after transitioning to a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) while holding an existing account opened under a Non-O retirement visa. They had concerns about whether their change in visa status would affect their ability to get a new card. However, despite the change, the bank processed their request smoothly, indicating that visa changes do not impact the status of an active bank account or the ability to renew debit cards.
