What should I do if my Non-Imm O visa is expiring and I want to transition to a tourist visa during the amnesty period?

Hi there, I am currently on a Non-Imm O visa, it is expiring on 20th April, it is linked to a work permit but I have not renewed my WP for another year, as I wanted to take a break.  My intention was to leave Thailand on 8th April and return on a tourist visa but obviously I could no longer do that.  I am now not sure as to which category my current visa falls into with regards to the new amnesty situation, I am going to immigration next week Thursday, 16 April... I do have a letter from the South African Embassy (I have an SA passport)... can you give me any advice?

I believe the amnesty works only for people on tourist visas, or visa exemption stamps. I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm on the ED Visa which expires on the 21st. From my understanding, we still need to go to immigrations and apply for the emergency extension with the letter from your embassy.

Non immigrant visas extensions are extended as normal if you still meet the conditions of the extension.

However if they are expiring due to you not meeting requirements of it or you don’t meet the requirements anymore You can apply for the emergency extension as long as you get the letter from your embassy.

If you are on extensions you must cancel the extension first.

Did you made border runs every 90 days for a new 90 day stay in Thailand or did you report yourself every 90 days at immigration and do you have the big stamp in your passport Extension of Stay permitted up to 20 Apr 2020

90 day reports are not stamped in the passport, so I have no clue about the additional stamp you got.

Thanks for your reply, I did not cross the border every 90 days but went to immigration every 90 days to report. I do have the big stamp in my passport that says permitted to stay until 20 April 2020... I went yesterday for my 90 day report and there is now an additional stamp which says this is not an extension of stay and I must notify my address again on 6 July 2020, with a handwritten note above it that says Visa BXQ (it looks like) 20 April 2020
