I am interested in your question and the various responses received. I have just completed the process to marry in Thailand and if you are under time pressure you might choose an agent.

It appears 2 answers for the same question have been noted. If it follows same document path as getting married in Thailand I'm happy to receive DM and give you process I completed ....I am at the Amphur in Surin Thursday to get married and they have checked all my documents OK ready in advance.

Great comments. I've just done a similar process to get married myself and happy to add details and recommend a Notary for translation on the same street as the UK Embassy. Plus advice on the ministry of foreign affairs including where on the 6th floor it is. Mine took 3 weeks because I went to Korat for a week mid time but if you have your appointments lined up it could be done in 2 weeks. 7 days after uk.gov uploads for Embassy in Bangkok then you can make Notary appointment for same day as Embassy and then get MOFA appointment if available 2 days later. Itvthen takes 2 days for these docs to be checked by MoFA who were really helpful.

If not based or able to be around Bangkok on various days an agent might still be best but you still need to attend UK Embassy in Bangkok in person I believe.

Good luck 👍

Stage 3 23.12.2024 Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have the translated docs legalised......first challenge is to find the offices on the 6th floor. My best directions are to use BTS Siam and use the walkway towards centralwOrld, but then take the exit to Wat and drop down to road level. Walk along just past the temple crossing both pedestrian crossing to the corner of centralwOrld. Walk LEFT along the side past the loading bay and offices about 4minutes until you reach a side entrance. Go in and past the Durian and other food smells to the escalators. This set will take you 6 floors right onto the ministry seating area.

Once there you'll go to booth 1 information to have your QR code checked and documents looked at. Then given a ticket and wait for the announcement and see on the screen which booth hatch number to present. I had 2 docs and 2 translations so was charged 800bhat. Once receipted hand the docs into booth 11 and keep the receipt.....I was told 2 days, Christmas Day.

On return one word was ommited Eeeek...BUT if I get it back before they close at 4pm it will be ready tomorrow. PANIC!!!!!!!! Called my lawyer no answer....WhatsApp messages no answer.....get back on BTS couple stops to Saint Louis and as I get off train I had a missed call and messages from lawyer. He was in meetings but would see me at 2pm..... PHEW.

He apologies for the typo and I am very calm asking can it be corrected ASAP which he replied yes wait 15 minutes. Corrected doc back in hand....back to Ministry and resubmitt full set.

Boxing day 25.12.2024 return to ministry to collect fully approved legalised docs.....BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT THANK YOU Thailand 🇹🇭 😊 🙏

Stage4 to follow in January in Surin....wish me luck at the Amphor.

Stage 2......18.12.2024 need 2 documents translated and Notorised... the embassy give a neutral list but on Google I found my firm 5minutes walk from the Embassy.

This is on the 47th floor of Tower 2 - I was fortunate (unorganised) that he saw me within the hour. He works from share office rooms on the 47th floor offering to complete for 1,000 bhat (I accepted this with no knowledge of a fair price and I wait for the comments how only 20 bhat needed but this is my story and I paid it with s smile) Whilst there I made the online appointment for Ministry of Foreign Affairs....first available 23.12 and as I was in Korat for few days I arranged collection from the shared reception that day. The service was fast having the documents ready the following morning and as promised he sent me pictures of the translated docs and confirmed at reception ready to collect. More to this on Stage 3 😁

Stage1 16.11.2024 online in UK 🇬🇧 I completed the application upload to have the British Embassy Bangkok produce a confirmation I am single and therefore no bounds to prevent marrying a Thai National. I also added the authentication of my British passport both costing around £75.

This produces an application ref number to book appointment in Bangkok to show original docs (for me it was Decree Absolute, passport and Driving licence as proof of address. Then also a copy of my gf Thai ID.

The booking system was showing full and on email reply the Embassy explained its OK as it is relaunched on 3rd of December and so I was unable to rebook from England. I landed Thailand 🇹🇭 2nd December and woke on the 3rd to log online and see EVERY SLOT fir December was unavailable and January slots NOT YET RELEASED!!! I visited the Embassy to explain my situation and stood in a red phone box was put through to someone who calmly said a glitch in the new system....wait till 2pm UK time (9pm Thai) and it will be OK. In the hotel 9pm/
*******
/10/etc no available time slots still.....eeek try 9am again nothing so I phoned the Embassy and calmly told .....it's OK I can see your application we have dates available.......YES PLEASE.......PHEW.

Attended the Embassy location in the AIA tower next to BTS Saint Louis station. In my folder was originals and photocopies of my documents and the staff are very helpful. I speak a little basic Thai but I feel if you only speak English with respect they would still be very helpful.

2 embossed stamped docs signed and swear truth statement made. Then given a crib sheet for next stages which they wrote these 3 steps....no1 completed. Stage 2 get these Embassy docs translated into Thai and Notorised by a lawyer......see my next stage comment soon.

@John ******
I'm always interested in how the system works. Against advice of friends I've always landed last 4 times on 60day E visa through Thai Embassy in London. I've never used agents for my Thai Visa or my girlfriends UK visa as tourists but looking at a longer solution in Thailand 🇹🇭 soon.

oh OK I misunderstood a visa comment I was given recently......goes to show lots of info out there by people.........if no 180day rule as I was told why would immigration say no as that would help poster and possibly me also? Please comment helpand i apologise for my irrelivant misunderstanding 🙏

Is this because you'll be over 180days in 2024 if you get extension after 60days this trip?
