What would be the best long term visa options (excluding elite visa) for a Swedish family of 3 ( mother+father+3 year old child) where the parents are not married and in their 30’s? They would not be working while in Thailand.
Also, would it be possible to arrive on a visa exempt status and convert it to another visa while in Thailand?
I'd like to submit an update for my visa process given the amount of comments my original post drew in.
Application for Non-B and Non-O dependent
1. Entered Bangkok smoothly on a visa exempt (30-day) with a ticket out to Laos (never asked for) two days later.
2. Upon arrival in Laos, successful application of Non-B AND, would you guess, Non-O dependent visa simultaneously (right..?). Visas take two working days and were collected today without any issue.
- only our marriage certificate was asked for
- visa fee of 2,000 Baht each.
- employer documents
3. Spend 6 nights enjoying Vientiane, Laos and stayed at La Seine Hotel (strongly recommend).
I fully appreciate all the advice and opinions heard on this forum.
One lesson I learnt: everyone's case is different and one should not blindly accept all comments as truth.
Rather, take in all in. Then proceed to follow your gut based on your own research.
Went to Muang Thong Thani to get a 60 day family visit extension based on marriage. No success and left frustrated.
1 - was told that because we were in a Bangkok Airbnb and could not show a year long lease, that she could not do the extension
2 - to get the 60 day family extension, we had to use my wife's address on her house papers (tabien baan) in Bueng Kan
3 - had to apply in Bueng Kan and not Bangkok (grrrr...)
I'd appreciate some comments form the mods / experts. I was particularly annoyed that even with tambien baan from my wife that we could not apply in Bangkok.
Retirement visa extension Non-O. My previous 1 yr stamp expired July 3rd but i was unable to extend because the 800k wasnt back in my account till July 1st (I had wrongly assumed that keeping over 400k throughout the year would negate the 2 month rule).
Can i apply to extend here in Thailand after Sept 1st, even though the previous stamp has expired? Thanks everyone 🙏🏻
I have kind of visa related question; I have been trying to find visa and extension price list from Thailand immigration webpages, but couldn't find any.
Do You know if there is official price list that includes price for all visa and extension types You can apply inside Thailand?
in stead of using the comment section on other peoples question, you can use the box in top to make your own.

For those of us who came here on O-A some years ago and extend stay annually here, are any immigration offices asking for insurance or are we 'grandfathered' as it were?
