Hi. I would like to get a motorcycle driving license in Thailand. I saw some announcements on groups that it only costs 1500thb and you don't have to take the tests? How does it look in practice?
Do you need to have residency status to get a driver license in Thailand?
More info: Currently on a tourist visa and my US license expires within a year so I can't apply for an IDL, or I can but it won't be valid (IDL needs 1 year validity in Thailand).
What is the best option for obtaining local medical insurance?
My biggest concern is making sure I have good quality cover in the event of a motorcycle accident.
Is local insurance even worth it?
What kind of driving license do local insurers require? Is a foreign motorcycle license + IDP acceptable or do they require a local Thai license? Happy to get the latter anyway as the IDP is a pain to carry around.
I'm on an education visa. I have received my first residency certificate this morning. It has an expiration date that is identical to my passport stamp. February 13. I understand that I should get a new stamp a day or two before that date and that's that regarding permission to stay in the kingdom.
My question is what about the renewal of the residency certificate. Should I get it renewed when I get a new stamp on the visa? Must I? Or, perhaps ask for one to be issued only when there is a requirement for it?
The reason I had it issued is that it is required for applying for a driving license.
How is the renewal of the residency certificate done? Is it done along with getting a new visa stamp, or does it involve waiting about a month, again (or paying for an expedited service)?
