DTV: Softpower Approved in 2 days in Jakarta!

Details Below:

Applied in Jakarta on the 25th of Jan, got a VOA which takes a picture of you at the autopassport gate (if you have an e-compatible passport, apply online before or when you arrive).

Overall this was a simple, fast, and surprisingly no fuss process.

Visa Class: DTV Softpower

From: Muay Thai Fever - Derry McCourt was extremely understanding and accomidating for this part. 6 Month training plan. He supplied a full range of gym docs & certifications, training details, reciept, scheudle, anything that could be asked for by immigration.

Submitted: All required pages provided to me in a pre-combined single PDF.

Proof of Location:

Uploded the VOA email that has my picture and entry details, my hotel booking in Jakarta, and inbound flight just to cover my bases. I did not have an outboud flight booked so there was nothing to provide.

Submitted: Hotel booking, Inbound flight + VOA approval page with my photo on it, in 1 combined PDF.

Proof of funds:

I uploaded 5 months of bank statements from my USA bank, all showing over 500k THB. I only included the transactions on the most recent 2 months - while including a screenshot from that bank's mobile banking app for the current month (Jan) as I was applying right at the end of Jan and didn't have a proper statement yet. Totalling 6 months of banking. This account had 1-4 transactions each month - something that may have helped move the process through faster.

Submitted: Screenshot of my banking app showing current month + current balance, as well as 5 months of bank statements. Combined into 1 PDF.

Details:

Employement: Freelance & appropriate income. From my understanding employment, and income are not weighted in a Soft Power application, but it never hurts.

Duration of stay: 5 months - I didn't want to under, or over-apply the stay as technically stamps are for 6 months, but if I put only 2 months stay, they may instead say I only needed a tourist visa.

Address in Thailand: My current condo details, just the contact details from their google listing, no contracts or anything required.

Apply mid day Mon 27th, recieved email approval late Wed 29th, printed it out that night and flew out the following morning, the 30th.

When entering, the immigration lady I picked was smiley, but when she got my passport + printed DTV page she had to process for a while, lost her smile, then her supervisor came over and spoke a bit, and then I was stamped in no questions.

Hopefully that helps someone get their stuff sorted. I added all the details I am comfortable with sharing, so take what you need and good luck!🙌🙌🙌🙌

Edit: emailed Canadian Thai embassy and they require zero months duration for the minimum 500K.

I was just rejected in Cambodia. No reason, no additional requests for documents. I applied through soft power Thai botany course, had the money deposited 1 week before and 3 months of bank statements. I noticed my hostel told me the wrong city for the current address. This might be the reason but I’ll never know. Hope to have better luck elsewhere.

The soft power organization told me their agency mentioned Cambodia isn’t granting any Chinese this visa. My middle name is Chinese but I’m Canadian. Mystery…

Hey all

A little confused! I have a few questions regarding DTV visa.

My husband is appying for the dtv visa, does he need to do a visa run every six months? Or can he just extend? Can he partake in courses? And does this visa allow multiple entry?

Also, If I piggy back of him as a Spouse, can I partake in courses?

Finally we have to proove ££, this would be for the both of us? Or do we need to proove that amount individually?

Thank you!

Hi,,Not sure if anyone can answer this in here, but I try anyway.

For a thai to get visa to go to Germany,,,the requierments I think I understand,,but this one has been arrested at least 2 times for fighting,,violence,,,is due to meet in court this month, but dont want to go,,,

Can this be a reason for denial of visa?

The proof of money ,,,does it have to be in thai account,,,or is it enough with an invite letter and guarranty from german citizen?

Parents who applied for the Visa for their children...

Our 2 year old son clearly doesn't have proof of funds, or access to our bank accounts, was this an issue when you started the visa process?

How did you work around this?

Is this the process? Applicant applies for DTV and after approval, he/she passes their visa details to spouse who applies under applicants visa reference? Both pay a fee each? Do both need to show a separate 500,000 Baht in their accounts?

And what about dependents? Are they covered under under the applicants visa? Is there a fee to pay for them too?

So I think I have my POA

As a US (50) citizen:

-Have ฿800,000 min in Thai account

-apply for 60 day tourist visa

-come to Thailand

-apply to convert to Non-O (retire)

-apply for extension of stay (1 yr)

Feels like I have left something out. I am just trying to get my entire plan drawn up and keep my T’s crossed and I’s dotted.

Believe me I have researched a lot. But I would rather run this by some of the few experts on here who painstakingly grade people’s plans

TIA

I am from the states, have US passport. My wife is US perm resident, and has Nigerian passport. I'd like to get her a MEV for a 6 month trip in Oct. to Thailand.

I was looking at requirements, and how to get her a visa, and I found this online:

Visit the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate closest to your residence in the US. (I guess they come out to PHX every month or 2 from LA, for 2 days)

Submit the required documents, including:

1. Completed visa application form <- which form is this?

1. Valid Nigerian passport with at least 6 months validity

3. One passport photo meeting specific requirements

4. Proof of sufficient funds: <- how much for 6 months?

Can it me in our joint bank account?

Bank statements showcasing your ability to support yourself during your stay in Thailand (amount varies depending on your planned duration and itinerary).

5. Proof of onward/return flight tickets <- really? I won't have any flight tickets yet.. 3 months in advance.

6. Proof of accommodation details <- Huh? We want to travel around, won't have this all arranged...

7/ Travel insurance policy <- OK

8. US Permanent Resident Card (copy)

9. Visa fee: Payable at the embassy/consulate in cash or money order <- anyone know what the fee would be?

Does the above look accurate? Any idea if the visa would be issued same day? How long does it take?

So as a US citizen with US passport, what would be the process for me, vs my wife?

thanks, this is sort of a special situation.

Seeking advice

Am UK PP holder previously with visa Non-O

Left in April this year for work overseas

Came back in on Aug 17 Visa Exempt 30 days valid til Sept 15

Extended for 30 days until Oct 15

Am considering the Savannakhét option for Non-O based upon supporting my Thai-born child

Q1. What documents do I need...?

Q2. Can anyone advise the best way to get to Mukdahan and back from Bangkok...? Van / Nok Air Fly-Ride...

Q3. Do I need an appointment...?

Q4. Is the 'don't need to show proof of funds' thing still the case or will I need to show proof of funds...?

Many thanks for any advice and support that you all can give.

I am returning to Thailand on a 30 visa exempt( hopefully ) next week and plan to apply for ( my first ) non O ( am 50+ ) with the required 800k in Bangkok bank already ,and my tm30 is currently at a CM address

What kind of timeline should I expect it to be completed ??

The reason I’m asking is I was thinking of going down to Phuket ( in July )for a few months and was wondering how that would effect an application in CM

Does the money banked need to be in the same province as where you apply ?/ can i get the necessary bank proof of funds from cm if I were to apply for the visa in Phuket etc ?

Thanks
