Hi everyone! Any fellow Canadians here who have applied for the DTV? I'd love to know if you applied through the Ottawa or Vancouver embassy and what your experience was like. I'm especially curious about the success rate before I submit my application. Thanks in advance 😃
Posting to give back as I received a lot of advice on here....
I was approved for a DTV at Vancouver Consulate. I provided a credit card statement for proof that I was in Canada because my driver's license was expired. Also provided previous month bank statement showing closing balance over $20K CAD, though the balance was lower than $20k at certain times of the month. I own a Corp in Canada, but I'm the only shareholder, so I provided the Business registration docs all in 1 PDF. 7 days later, they ask for further documents regarding the nature of business of the Corp and how the applicant would work in Thailand. I answered those questions in an official company response and submitted it... was approved 6 hours later.
Feel free to call the consulate to ask questions before applying. They are very helpful and often pick up on the first ring.
I just submitted application for DTV Visa in Vancouver Canada consulate, called to make sure I had all the right documents, including a letter I wrote explaining all my business activities, the person on the phone said it was OK to write your own letter explaining all your business activities and that my business was online/digitally, he also said it would not take longer than 2 weeks, others here have said it took 2 business days, so after I get my DTV I can apply for my wifes, with her banking information and our marriage certificate, hoping all goes well
Wanted to share my experience with my application in case it might help someone. I applied online at the Canada, Vancouver consulate. My visa was approved within 2 business days. I was not asked to send any additional documents within those 2 days.
Applied as a remote worker
Sent in the following documents:
-photo, I used an online app called epassportphotos (app is free)this photo will be on your dtv visa so make sure you take one that you want to keep for 5 years)
-passport
-proof of address, I had sent my paystub with my name and address.
-Work contract that clearly states Im able to work remotely anywhere in the world
- current bank statement of 500thb (19k cad). I sent in a screen shot pdf of my online banking. I had to move most of the money into my account same day of applying. Account balance sent was about 22k cad. I did not have to show my bank statements, just account summary of the amount.
If youre applying in Canada I highly recommend the Vancouver consulate. Prior to applying I had sent a few emails with questions regarding the visa and got quick responses. Overall application seems smooth and efficient and a likely chance of approval (given you're sending all the requested documents)
I have applied for a TR 60 Visa in Canada but the Vancouver consulate has requesting that I send them the latest declaration form and I'm not sure which one it is I am attaching one that I found can somebody tell me if it is the correct form because the other form I found is quite different
