On December 13th, I submitted my documents to the Thai Embassy in Berlin. Today, I received feedback that only biometric photos from a photo studio are now accepted (which is no problem). They also requested an "explanation of how I work remotely in Thailand."
On Friday, I submitted the following documents: proof of residence in Germany, a freelance work contract, a certificate from my employer confirming that it is a remote position, and my German business registration.
What exactly should I explain now? That I only need internet and a laptop, that the time difference is not an issue, etc.?
So I’m planning to be in Thailand for a month, 2 weeks vacation and the other 2 weeks working remotely. I would like some clarification that I would need the DTV to work for those 2 weeks? The DTV seemed pretty overkill for just the 2 weeks I plan to work. Any insight is much appreciated. Also thank you in advance!
I received my Destination Thailand Visa through the embassy in Berlin yesterday. It was applied for on September 3rd, so it took just under a working week for processing. There were no follow-up questions; everything went through smoothly.
I am employed in Germany and work remotely (online editor).
For the issuance, I submitted:
- Copy of my passport
- Photo
- Proof of residence (a national ID card would have sufficed)
- Address in Thailand (any hotel; they didn't ask to see a booking confirmation)
- Flight date (they didn't ask to see a booking confirmation)
- Proof of funds (I submitted a four-week-old savings account statement with a balance of 13,500 euros, which was accepted without any issues)
- Employment contract with permission to work from Thailand
After careful consideration, I have decided to go down the route of getting a DTV, purely because it's 5 years and I can return to work (working remotely in Thailand, for a non-Thai company).
Currently, I am on the retirement extension issued in Chiang Mai. I emailed the Thai Embassy Vientiane with some questions, one of which was to ask if I should cancel this before applying with them for the DTV, they said no need to. - Should I trust this feedback or cancel the extension before going to Laos?
I have checked the application and you have to indicate the entrance day and end day, the flight number and the place where you are staying.
The problem is that I need the visa to request to my company to work remotely there, so I do not want to expend more money with the flights and hotel reservation, just in case my company deny my request to work from there.
Do you think they will reject it if I do not provide those details?
I run and will continue to run a ltd business in the UK and that's where the money will come from to live in thailand.
There is myself (38) wife (35) and 2 children under 12
All uk passport holders
What is our best option?
I would ideally in the future like to open a thai Ltd business and invest in businesses there. But for the immediate future it will juat be longest possible visa without hopping borders,
I have to do a 90 day check in the beginning of September. My non imm b work permit/visa is connected to the Bangkok province so I would normally need to do it in Bangkok. However, I am currently based in Koh Phangan working remotely and I am doing everything I can to avoid traveling with the covid situation, especially to Bangkok. Does anyone know if/how I can check in online? I’ve heard it’s possible…
