EDIT: thanks so much for all the replies folks!! @admins: would it be helpful to start setting up an F.A.Q?

Hey everybody, Firstly thanks so much for all the great advice. I have a few question about the requirements:

- can I can have 500K baht across different bank accounts that are in my name? or does it need to be in a single account?

- I also heard that you need to show proof of salaries equivalent to >= 80K usd per year. is this correct? it would be a problem for me as I've been working parttime the last year

- lastly, can I apply for the DTV visa while I have an active other VISA? I currently have an ED one

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirements for obtaining a DTV visa in Thailand. Key points include clarification that the 500,000 baht requirement can be spread across multiple accounts, and there is no necessity for an annual income of 80,000 USD, as this requirement applies only to the LTR visa, not the DTV visa. Additionally, it is advised that an existing ED visa must be canceled before applying for the DTV visa.

You don't even need 80K USD for the LTR visa anymore and it was never a requirement for the DTV. If it were, many folk wouldn't qualify for it.

It has been removed. Read the news.

None of them make any mention of any changes to the passive income requirement for Wealthy Pensioner LTR. I'd be all over that if it were the case

@John *********
It was all over the news.

@Paul ******

They have changed. You just haven't read the news. It's been a big news story in recent weeks. The USD 80,000 income requirement is gone. Period.
John **********
@Paul ******
please point to ANY source that states the income requirement has been removed for the Wealthy Pensioner LTR. Don't confuse that with the Wealthy Global Citizen LTR where it was removed
Paul *******
@John *********
There has been changes. They announced it recently. It's about wealth and assets now not income. Period.
John **********
@Paul ******
no point in arguing, go and look at the wealthy pensioner requirements on the BOI website. They have not changed. The other options have changed but not that one
John **********
@Paul ******
depends which ltr
Paul *******
@John *********
No, all of them have had this requirement removed. It's now about how much you have in assets, rather than income.
John **********
@Paul ******
not for the wealthy pensioner ltr. No change to that one

80k USD salary is for the LTR visa and not DTV
Wayne *********
The 500k BHT is the only amount stipulated. There is no amount for annual income.

For the ED you need to cancel it by visiting an immigration office in Thailand

Have to cancel other visa

No clue where you heard 80k usd a year needed that's definitely not the case as many you see post on Here barely make 20k and I'm lost how they think they'll survive here truly.

There is absolutely no amount required to be made per year though if so over half who've applied would definitely not be approved 😂

@Jeremy ****
80k USD salary is for LTR with an undergraduate degree. Masters and up the requirement is 40k

@Jeremy ****
.. He explained where the 80k confusion was likely from.

It was relevant to clear up that confusion.
Jeremy *****
@Marianne *******
again not at all relevant to my reply period or this post as it was again a question in regards to DTV not ltr or other visas

Jesus 🤦‍♂️

@Jeremy ****
And I quote

"No clue where you heard 80k usd a year needed that's definitely not the case"

You are right it is not the case, but you were then told where it IS a case, to clear up the confusion for yourself and others who might wonder where this assumption originated.

It's not that hard to see why this was relevant here.
Jeremy *****
@Greg *******
and this post is in regards to DTV so wtf is your point genius 🤔
