Phuket sandbox drama Thailand edition is getting better! Head of the Phuket tourism association (whatever that is) said in an online interview today that only Thai women who were legally married to a foreigner would be allowed to share a bed with them during the sandbox.
The Thai powers that be quickly pulled that back and said, well, he said that but don't listen to it yet, sort of.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent comments by the head of the Phuket Tourism Association suggested that only Thai women legally married to foreigners could share a bed with them during the Phuket Sandbox program. However, these statements were quickly retracted, indicating a lack of clarity in current regulations. The post sparked discussion among commenters who criticized the tourism authority's approach to reopening, the requirements for insurance, and invasive rules that disregard personal freedoms. A consensus emerged that these rules might hinder Thailand's tourism recovery, drawing comparisons to regulations in neighboring countries.
Have anyone seen the latest take on covid from Singapore .
No more reporting of cases , covid to be treated as a flu strain like any other . Qurantine of travellers to be dumped as will be isolation of close contacts
Something for the Australian bed wetting covid politicians to ponder .
well there it is again on Credlin with her preaching on national TV . She has challenged the Australian Government at tomorrows national cabinet to follow Singapore who are going to ..as quoted by her , drop qurantine for vaccinated arivals , treat the virus as a flu strain , no more reporting of cases , adopt a strategy around living with the virus ...and work towards an open country again .. perhaps she got fake news as well ?
Unbelievable here in Australia 30 cases and the entire country is wetting the bed ! lockdowns everywhere ..2 cases Perth, McGowan considering hard lockdown . The descruction caused by Australias eradication policy adding billions to the already massive deficit . A nation of bed wetting numpties
Load of cock and bull no idea where she getting information.
I got 36 men been waiting six months to enter country from Malaysia so follow news a lot.
Same with all other projects lack of manpower Singapore is locked down.
They just eased off measures last week by allowing dine in at restaurants and bars with maximum of two customers and all out by 10 pm does that sound like they are easing off lol
you got to be frigging Joking, i am in Singapore at the moment and they are stricter than ever, doing covid tests twice a week to be able to work in Shipyard.
My son who was born in Singapore but not a Singaporean citizen cannot get permission to get in the country and he has his Mum who is permanent resident his Grandmother who is Singapore citizen and myself an employment pass holder.
Full reports of covid are happening just check out channelnewsasia.com.
Quarantine has not been dumped in fact its been made longer for anybody travelling for countries with high incidence of the delta variant. One of my workers is getting out tomorrow after 21 days coming from papa new guinea
I totally agree!! I’ve got a friend living in Singapore who’s husband went back to the uk to visit his sick mother.........he’s now stuck in the UK for the foreseeable future!😱
I heard that's what they do in Iran. You can get a 'wife' for the night and then divorce her in the morning, and the religious authorities are fine with this apparently 🤔
gps wrist band trackers, which you could of course leave in hotel

Just another person making a comment that he shouldn't. This rule will end up being thrown out just like the whole Thai nationals and long term visa holders not being allowed.

Ahh, the hare-brained, Phuket "Litter-Box" gets more and more convoluted every day
Lol I wait until 2023/ 2024 I am not going jump through hoops.

The PCR TEST to go to Thailand and return to Canada and the insurance is the price of my plane ticket! I have had both shots and have the certificate but still I have to quarantine for two weeks in Bangkok. If you want a holiday, why would you pick Thailand ? People who are vaccinated need to be given some latitude

I have a wife in Thailand too and I'm stuck in China, that's just the way it is and qurantine is here to stay, especially with all the variants. Get used to it.
It's the SAME for every country. Having the vaccine DOES NOT stop you from passing it on and HAVING the virus. It just prevents YOU from being ill, hence the necessity for quarantine still. Simple really.

So you could test positive 2 days AFTER arriving, is that too difficult too understand?
if I have the vaccines and test negative when I leave Canada and test negative when I hit Thailand... why two weeks of quarantine? To boost the failed policies of the government in relation to tourism?
being vaccinated is not a guaranty you will not be able to get COVID. Non of the existing vaccinations are 100% protective (yet).

Thailand may be the ONLY country in the world that FORCES all cases and mandate they must go to a hospital and stay until not testing positive, a good way to make money for the hospitals. 98% or more of them just need to stay at home and quarantine until symptoms are over and done with. The system is awful!
because if they are tested positive and have no symptoms (which can still happen apparently) they will be sent to hospital for treatment that don't need...

Now they've got an insurance mandate for foreigners, it might just stick.
if u are infected with covid in thailand, where do you get the money to pay for hospitalisation/ICU? expect Thai govt to pay for you if you don't have the money?
let’s think out of the box for a moment. In the past many travelers had no insurance and stuck Thailand with the tap. Pack packers fir instance. Many foreign travelers do have insurance at home but not good in other countries. Insurance will probably continue-into the future, even when normalcy occurs. Unless they can document policies that cover other countries.
I was an interpreter in a Thai hospital for a while. The bad payers I met were not backpackers, they were jobless men in their 50s who took their old mum or dad in Thailand with them and living with an ex-bargirl on the parent retirement money. Then the elderly in their 80s got sick...and no insurance!
Good to know that /South America they don’t smile for money.. Your choice of selection are freedoms for the holiday destination. No one can really force you actually...
To be fair, Vietnam technically prohibits Vietnamese women from living with foreign men of they're unmarried. Hear stories in Da nang of the police showing up and telling someone to leave because they aren't married.
Actually didn't know that, thought it was just a foreigner issue. I know Vietnam made a lot of laws after the war to stop prostitution with the US soldiers.
The same apply to female expats and VN men too. There are ways around it though if the landlords or hotels really want to help under normal circumstances. Registering them in the same ASQ room is still impossible.
sure, but that has been the case for decsdes and could well be written into their laws. However that is certainly not the case in Thailand. Pretty sure it will be a comment that is forgotten about very quickly
