I want to do a quick Chiang Mai to Laos or Cambodia and back for a weekend, or a couple of weekdays. It's easier, cheaper and hopefully more fun than doing a 90-day report in Bangkok. I'm just wondering if anyone's done this lately and could give input on which country is the easiest and most interesting option. Thanks!!!!

It's kind of subjective but I prefer Laos over Cambodia. Vientiane, Savannakhet and Pakse are all chilled out. Great food, nice people and not expensive. I guess it depends on what kind of action you want. If you're on an 'extention of stay' dont forget to buy a re-entry permit before you leave. Have fun whatever country you choose.

Semantics guys. Multiple entry permit vs multiple entry visa. Thanks Tod. You know that I know what I'm doing visa-wise. It's just the bloody nomenclature and mechanics of it that screw me up. 😕

, she's NOT on an OA visa :/ , she's on a yearly extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) AND she holds a multiple re-entry permit. ;)

. With a non imm multiple entry visa you need to leave the country every 90 days. You only do 90 day reports on an extention of stay.

As far as I know, once you leave the country, you're back to day one when you return to Thailand.

If you're on a 1 year extention of stay your 90 day report re-sets as long as you have a re-entry permit.
