I have been getting conflicting info when asking about going to Vientiane...I came in on a 30 day visa exempt...I had planned on traveling a bit but coming back and forth to Chaing Mai my onward ticket was Taipei...after traveling to Taipei around March because of the 30 days I was to come back to Chaing Mai ...I just heard that Taipei was on a quarentine list....

Some people have mentioned to me about just going to Vientiane Laos...I know nothing about this option ...can someone please advise me on the events that happen in Vientiane..please....

My son is an international teacher in Thailand so I want to come and go if possible until I go back to the US ..

I went to emigration in Jomtein today for 30 day extension. Thinking I had all the necessary documents. I handed them to a guy who was outside the office and was offering assistance filling up the forms for a few hundred thb. Thinking I had everything in order he informed me that I needed written proof of my accomodation. As I didn't know about this he said I could use his address if I gave him a thousand thb. Needless to say I went home again frustrated to return another day.

said; if you haven't gotten the 30 day extension from your immigration office do that, as it will give you a month to figure out what's what.

Also remember that the thai consulate in Vientiane is by appointment only for visa applications.

Make a user profile and apply for an appointment on the day you want to apply for the visa.

If it's okay for you to not use your Taipei bound ticket...

Then as your first step, you can go to your local immigration office to apply 30days extension to your 30days visa exempt entry. The application fee is 1,900thb and 30days would be added to your current stamp.

After that 30days, you need to think about the next option.. to get a new 30days extension by bouncing at the border or get a Single Entry Tourist Visa at Thai consulate nearby country.

Vientiane is a small town, I like it, but it could be the perfect definition of "sleepy". I mean, don't expect a vibrant anything 😅

If you never traveled to Laos, it's worth a visit - and you don't need to take an international flight, just fly to Udon Thani and cross by land.
