TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenges of opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa. Several users share their experiences, indicating that it's generally difficult. One user mentions trying to open an account at multiple banks on Koh Samui without success, while another suggests that using an agent may be necessary, citing costs of up to 19,000 THB. Some comments caution against relying on outdated information, as banking policies have changed recently.
didnt you understand the question? Yeah i did too long time ago before dtv existed, so what? That has nothing to do with this day, rules have changed and new laws for banks. Its not easy anymore. I opened a year ago with exempt+extension, but it has nothinf to do with this post.

I’m having hard time believing that. I went to 6 different branches plus the Head office and was told no. Need work permit! That was before I got DTV. Which branch?
Tried all the banks in Koh Samui but all of them didn't allow me to open. I ask an agent and it will cost 12k thb for the agent and another 7k thb for the bank

bath but that perhaps the bank requires taking out the insurance policy. But it is in Hua Hin where I am right now, and it seems that if I open an account here, then in Koh Samui they will charge me almost $1 every time I withdraw cash, although my interest is mainly to be able to pay with QR codes.
