I fly to South Africa on Sunday, but first I'll fly from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, and take my international flight from Bangkok.
Because my visa's are all done in Chiang Mai, should I try get my re-entry permit at CNX Airport or can I do at Suvarnabhumi?
Unsure if there is a risk of the re-entry desk being closed on Sundays.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is inquiring whether they can obtain a re-entry permit at Chiang Mai (CNX) Airport before their international flight from Suvarnabhumi, considering the possibility of the re-entry desk being closed on Sundays. In response, it is noted that the re-entry permit desk at Suvarnabhumi operates 24/7, and advice is given to secure the permit at the local immigration office in Chiang Mai before traveling if concerned about potential delays or desk closures.
Check your ticket carefully. If it's connecting flights from CNX to abroad, means if you check in for international travel and go through passport control at CNX, you CAN NOT get a re-entry permit at Bangkok airport. To get a re-entry permit at Bangkok airport, you need to go through passport control in Bangkok, not at CNX. Otherwise, if possible, you better get a re-entry permit at the Chiang Mai immigration office. Or call CNX for re-entry permit desk opening hours.
it appears that you have the answer you need . We wish you Safe travels

The fee is 1200 Thai baht if they prepare the application and photo for you.

The re-entry permit desk at BKK airport is open All hours and days. If the desk is unmanned ask a Thai Immigration Officer and they will Open it for you.
suggest you get to the BKK airport Three hours before your flight departing Thailand...allows time to check-in for your flight and clear Thai immigration with a visit to the re-entry permit desk.
by chance the flight I booked from Chiang Mai is early enough, I'll have a good 6 hour wait before the international flight so I think I should be okay getting the re-entry in BKK.
