My first re-entry permit.. I live in Chiang Mai, Fly to BKK and stay overnight for a 6am international flight.  My form/photo is all prepared for the permit.  Should I go to Chiang Mai immigration (who just moved to a new location that I don't know well) and get it now or should I get it at the BKK airport at... 4am?  And for that matter, are they even open?

they charge the 200 THB fee because they don't need a paper - photo anymore from you but use their own cameras to take a picture which goes into the forms, you pay for that service 🤣

It's 1200 at Suvarnabhumi, they charge a 200b 'service fee' there, for reasons that have never been entirely clear to me

Just a note of clarification, 1200b for a single entry permit. I think it's 3800b for multi, but I may be wrong on that as I haven't done multi at the airport for years

Right generally speaking it's fairly quick and easy at BKK. The re-entry stamp office is after security, before immigration (but in the same room as immigration). If your flight is at 6, you're probably just before the morning rush (7-9am at BKK) so I would say you won't have too much of a problem. I still suggest you check in early (say 2 and a half hours before). The cost at BKK is 1200b. If it's quick and easy, then treat yourself a coffee and some breakfast!

Chiang Mai Immigration has returned to near the airport - if you know where the airport is immigration is not only well signposted it's about 250m before you turn left (same side) as the airport turnoff.
