What are the recent challenges foreign expats face when opening bank accounts in Thailand?

I heard it s because of the scams and underground lottery apps using Thai bank accounts with foreigners names.

So mainly it s a bank account problem, and if you can t open a bank account you simply can’t apply for a retirement visa in thailand, as you can’t open an account on a tourist visa anymore, bo matter what

Honestly! Depends on the situation I think. For the past 3 years I have been extending my Non-b. They never held my passport, this time when switching to Non-o thai family they kept it.
