Is it possible to apply for DTV and then enter Thailand on tourist visa while awaiting the DTV approval? Then once received DTV , exit Thailand again and re enter on fresh DTV
Yesterday I submitted my application for a DTV visa which should (hopefully) be approved within 10-15 days. I have a flight booked from Hanoi to Chiang Mai on the 24th of February. I have applied under the soft power category, so will be studying Muay Thai whilst there. The problem is, I broke my foot a couple of months ago, and it still hasn't healed. I have asked my school if I can delay the start of my training until my foot is fully recovered, but they are reluctant because of potential issues arising with immigration if the beginning of training is delayed. So, my question is: would it be possible to enter Thailand on the 60 day tourist exemption visa on the 24th (I hold a British passport), even after my DTV visa has been granted? Then after the 60 days is up, I would plan to do a border run and reenter on the DTV visa. This way, there would be ample time to let my foot recover, and my school would avoid any problems with immigration. Thanks in advance for the advice.
Oh dear me. There is a shock. You cannot work in Thailand, even remotely, on an Elite Visa. Pretty much redundant with DTV. Unless I am missing something.[members only]
Normally on the shorter tourist visa, you need to show flight exiting country. Is a one way ticket into Thailand ok? It should be right, as you have 180 days to find a flight out?
Are they asking for proof of employment with the soft power activities? Or should I put unemployed? Will that affect anything or do I need to be employed even with 500k baht?
I will be applying in a few months, and I guess it’s fairly safe to assume it will still be available since it is still a new visa. But, has Thailand shared officially anywhere how long DTV is planned to be available for?
Is it possible to get a Thai residence certificate less than 90 days after re-entry? I'm on a 5 year Elite visa. I've been here for a year, and already done a few 90 day reports, but I've recently re-entered. I need a residence certificate so I can renew my Thai driver's license, and everything I'm reading says I need a 90 day report after my most recent entry in order to get a residence certificate. It seems a bit silly that I have to wait 90 days to be able to renew my drivers license just because I recently left the country and came back. Is there any way around the 90 day report requirement for getting a residence certificate to renew my drivers license? I'm on Koh Phangan.
Started Jan 1, 2025, tourist visas are obtained online, right? Any idea what the approval time is? How does that affect visa run by land? Appreciate any wisdom.
