@Tobie ****
I am in Phuket and my yearly extension is based on Thai family 👍🍻

yes you do but it's automatic if married to the mother at time of birth. Personally I was not and had to go through the court process . It's also not sole custody, it's paternal rights. The mother does not in any way waive her maternal rights in court, it is simply acknowleding the father 👍

not if he was married to the mother at time of birth. Paternal rights are conferred automatically if married at the time of birth. Sure you have to go through the courts if unmarried

that's not correct. I send money to Thailand frequently, if I send in the currency of the sending country the rate is always much better than if I send Thai baht ie the conversion rate is always better if the currency is converted by the Thai bank. The rate received will be the Thai banks telex transfer rate which each Thai bank publishes on their website and is updated several times daily

Oh dear oh dear, many people offering conflicting advice and overlooking your complete situation through lack of knowledge. To simplify you have 3 option which are 1) retirement visa as you are over 50, 2) Marriage visa as you are married to a Thai 3) Thai family visa as you have a Thai child. These are all broadly the same apart from the financial aspect. For retirement you need 800k in the bank, for marriage or Thai family you need 400k in the bank. For marriage that money must be in there for 60 days before applying, for Thai family it only has to be in there on the day of application

all provinces should follow the same rules as set by the immigration bureau. The relevant info for visa extension due to Thai family is at 18.5 and 18.6 of the visa extension section of the immigration website

Based on being married to a Thai it's 2 months before application. Based on Thai child it only needs to be in on the day of application

@Ben ********
if you find out would you mind posting it here? I could also do with knowing for sure 🤣

when I did my daughters she didn't have to come but I read somewhere recently that now they take biometric data which would indicate that the child had to be present. You maybe able to find out if you Google " "VFS UK passport application"

I'm just about to do a renewal for my daughter and have been told it's around 12 weeks currently. Unfortunately it does involve 2 trips to Bangkok, one for the application and one to collect the passport as they won't post it to you which is incredibly annoying
