yes i just use my german bank and its about the same cost as using Wise and a thai account for example. so not really that useful and i pay cash all day long anyway.
i would just wait. the banks will probably adapt to the situation and allow opening an account in the future… for me anyway not really an advantage of having the bank account. more of an experiment for me trying out many different branches (and getting denied at all of them so far) ;)
opening a bank account is free. so going from 0 baht to 15k or sometimes even 30k is hilarious. scam… imagine how many foreign transactions you could do with that money and still have it in a more secure account in the western world…. most agency services are not necessary. same as the dtv agencys scams.
the banks told me that i will have to change my visa to a longterm visa to open the account. and they also showed me how its saved in the system. its kinda hilarious as i would not be able to work legaly under those visa options.
the visa status will be saved in their system and with using an agent you will be one crackdown away from the account beeing locked… it just takes a simple database request for officials to find out. you could do it if you have small money in the bank but i wouldnt trust it really. and the last few years have proven that things get more and more strict.
