Question on expiring passports and extension of stay.
I have an OA visa and I am on an Extension of Stay to October 2025 (multi-entry). I do the extension in early September each year.
My (Australian) passport will expire in January 2026.
I have read various posts about this and it seems to me that the simplest approach is to get a new passport before attempting the extension.
I think I can renew the passport in Thailand, but this seems quite a lengthy process.
As an alternative, I have no problem with renewing my passport in Australia mid-year prior to doing the extension in Thailand in September. But that will mean that I leave Thailand on the old passport, and return with the new.
As I understand it, I simply show both passports on return and get the existing extension moved to the new passport once I have arrived.
What is unclear to me is
(a) I have an existing multi-entry stamp in my old passport. Is this still valid (and thus allowing re-entry)?
(b) Once arrived back in Thailand, do I need to immediately "transfer the stamps", or can I just wait until I do the extension, (showing both passports + associated paperwork/insurance/funds etc), as the new extension will go straight into the new passport.
Looking for advice on flaws in my logic/understanding.
Probably a dumb question, but this was a thing for my previous visa —
When leaving the country, do we have to do a preemptive re-entry stamp at immigration to preserve the visa? Or since it’s multi-entry already, is such a stamp unnecessary?
Do I need to immediately enter Thailand after getting DTV visa or can I apply and enter the country 3,4 months after getting visa? And after entering for the first time,is there any rule like you need to stay for at least 30 days continuous for the visa?Thank you all
My best friend (British) is staying with me whilst I do my internship in Thailand 🥳. I know she can stay 60 days visa free and apply for a 30 day extension but how likely is she to get another 90days in Thailand? Can she just do a border run and go through the same process again? (60 day visa free entry+ another extension)
How likely would it be to get rejected (she’s never been in Thailand before ☺️)
Hello everyone I've got to do my first 180 days leave on my dtv myai Thai and leave and come back. I'm just wondering if I can do a land boarder crossing or by air is better ? Also if I can do on the same day instead of staying somewhere for 4-5 days? Please help I've been doing my research around and can't seem to find any real information it seems to be all up in the air at moment does anyone no anything about this please?
I had my DTV approved in Vietnam on the 29th of November, 2024. I've been living back in Bangkok since the 4th of December. I'm flying to Bali tomorrow.
1. Is there anything to prepare for the flights in and out or easy enough with multi-entry good to go?
2. I suppose no need for any 90 day report stuff as I won't be in Thailand for this length of time?
I’m applying for a multi non imm O in UK. I don’t recall the medical certificate necessary before. I have had this visa before. Is it necessary and how did you fulfill the requirements in UK?
I'm near the end of my 1 year multi entry visa, I have to choose between going immigration and get and extension or do a border run and get one last 3 months stamp from this visa.
The question is, if I go immigration, will they give me a 1 year extension or only 2 months extension?
I have 400k in thai bank but it's in investing account not saving account.
